My cat chalupa has lymphoma and it is bring treated with prednisolone which suppresses her immune system. She has come down with a bad cold sneezing, coughing, difficulty breathing, congestion. She is still eating but I am debating giving her antibiotics now or waiting to see if it gets worse. Either way she is not expected to live long. I just want her to be comfortable but I don't want to just cause more problems in her system if say this a viral cold. If anyone has any thoughts would appreciate it. She has had a cold in the past and it got really bad due to rupture in her intestine do this makes Me really nervous. Could the fine needle aspirate that we had done on her tumor in her small intestine have caused any problems like with bacteria?

Hi

Have you consulted with a vet about whether the antibiotics should be given now? Since a vet would be able to actually see and examine your kitty and we cannot, he or she would be in the best position to give you advice on this.  He or she would also be the one to ask about the fine needle aspirate.

Good luck.  I am sorry your kitty is sick!

Hi thanks for the reply! I did talk to my vet, she is not sure, it's up to me. She said I could pick up some Azithromycin just to me cautious. I probably will get it just to have it on hand in case I might need it for her. Right now I'm too scared to give her anything else that might have worse side effects than the cold. I'm pretty sure my cat is anemic too, she has been breathing funny a long time. Dr. did not address it last time I brought her so I'm guessing it's not that serious.
