hey guys. my persian couple had 3 kitties a mnth ago. all three happy and healthy :D

now that they are out and about, they LOVEEEEEEEEEEE eating mommys food! they are still feeding on mommy milk but they also like eating on their own like big cats! i know they look cute and all but is it ok for them to start eating already?

i dont wnat them to stop taking mother's milk cuz thts wat keeps them healthy and cute. also my cat isnt neutered so as long as she is feeding them, she will not be ready to mate. so should i let them eat if they want or put them purely on mother's milk? :/ :/

also, wen do kittens start pooping? cuz from what i hv noticed, mommy cat is still licking their butts and they dont poop yet but if they start eating food, they will need to poop right? :/

4 weeks is around when mother cats wills tart weaning their kittens.  It is completely appropriate and healthy that they have begun to demonstrate interest in her food.

Please get your cat spayed.  She actually can and will mate if given the opportunity when the kittens are still feeding on her.  In fact, cats are capable of getting pregnant immediately after birth, and it is not uncommon for them to go into heat just a very few days after birth.  Please read this article about the importance of spaying your cat. http://www.thecatsite.com/a/spay-and-neuter-your-cats

Regarding the poop, this would also be a good time to start introducing them to the litterbox, but if mom is still taking care of it it is fine for her to do so and there is no need for you to take action to stop her.

If mommy and kittens are all eating the same food, please make sure the food is nutritionally complete FOR ALL LIFE STAGES. You can find this language on the food packaging.
