WE RESCUED AN ABANDONED KITTEN WHEN IT WAS 2 WEEKS OLD...SHE IS NOW 5.5 WEEKS OLD..AND WE HAVE DECIDED THAT WE WOULD LIKE HER TO HAVE A COMPANION KITTEN TO PLAY WITH...NOT SURE IF SHE IS OLD ENOUGH YET...IT SEEMS TO US LIKE SHE COULD USE THE COMPANIONSHIP AND SOCIALIZATION...BUT OUR VET SAID WE SHOULD WAIT ANOTHER TWO MONTHS...ANOTHER OPINION SAID WE SHOULD ONLY WAIT TILL SHE IS 8 WEEKS OLD AND STARTED HER SHOTS...SHE DOES HAVE A LITTERMATE THAT WAS HANDED OVER TO A RESCUE CENTER AN CAN'T BE RELEASED UNTIL HE'S 8 WEEKS OLD ANYWAY...HE'S NOT DOING AS WELL AS SHE IS THO...EATING AND POOPING BUT NOT GROWING..SO HE MAY HAVE PROBLEMS...ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

Kittens learn A LOT during weeks 4-12 from their siblings/momma cat. While there is risk introducing a new kitten prior to vaccines, we as a rescue have done it because we felt the risk out weighed the benefits. Both kittens were combo tested, had fecal tests done and vet checked prior to their integration with one another. We also kept them from having direct contact with one another for about a week (the younger kitten, aged 4 wks, was kept in a bathtub with glass doors, new kitten, aged 7 wks, had access to the rest of the bathroom.)

I defintely would get her a buddy sooner rather than later. I would not wait until she is 12+ wks old.
