Hi there, when my cats were small kittens I kept them confined to the kitchen and living room. When they were a bit bigger they were allowed upstairs into our bedroom. Unfortunately one of them (Liv) jumped up onto our bed and peed on the duvet! We thought it was a one off and let her back in the next day only for her to do the same thing again! Having run out of duvets my husband banned both of them from the bedroom, saying perhaps it because she was young. They are 10 months old now and we never have any accidents so we let them go upstairs again, imagine my horror when Liv jumped up on bed and immediately peed in the same spot yet again! I'm at a loss as to why she does it, her sister doesn't and she hasn't in any other room that she's been in for the first time. Any insight about this would be appreciated.

First, have you cleaned the bed thoroughly with an enzyme cleaner? If even a few drops sunk down into the mattress, that could be the whole issue- she can smell where she peed before and so thinks this is a good place to pee again.

Hopefully others will be by soon with other ideas and suggestions!

Hi there the cat only peed on the top of the duvet so the mattress didn't get wet and I washed both duvet and cover each time, also got a new mattress now. :-(
