I managed to break and snap my bed frame in two.

So now I'm looking to buy a new bed. Full-sized. I'm considering two at the moment; one is metal and the other is wooden. Both are the same price, different style. I have mattress, and don't have or want box springs. I'm leaning towards metal, since metal feels stronger, but I heard that metal is more prone to squeak and creak. This is rather important.

Thoughts?

~~I'd go with wood but it really depends on style because if it just has planks to support it, it'll probably break at some point but if it's solid throughout like the pic I attached below, then it'll hold up to anything. I had a metal frame before this one and it lasted maybe 6 months before it started squeaking and you have to tighten any bolts that are attached to the headboard or footboard. I put a metal headboard to this bed frame with some long screws and it's solid as a rock. My father built the frame from scratch and said you could jump up and down on it and it wouldn't break lol

Of the two, I like the metal one. You could probably prevent the squeaking and creaking by periodically tightening the screws and using a little oil on it.

I have a wooden headboard no footboard.  I almost replaced it with a metal head and footboard when I got my new mattress and boxspring but I had already spent enough money so I didn't.  It's 18 years old and still in good shape I just wanted something new and different.

My computer is slow and I couldn't put up the pictures.  However, I favor metal for a practical reason.  Speck tends to use my wood four poster bed as a scratching post.  I have my old pewter bed in the guest room.  It used to squeak, screech, and carry on at the slightest movement.  I tightened up the hardware a bit and added extra slats under the mattress.  Now it's fine.  I have slept in it a few times since it was moved out of the bedroom and there are no problems.  I also like the look of metal; I found a metal four poster at a local furniture store that I really love.

I would go for the metal, mainly because the wooden one is veneer on particleboard, which is made with toxic binders and outgasses formaldehyde. Nobody needs to be breathing that in, especially up-close for a third of our lives while sleeping.

I'm a little curious how you broke your bed, but I'll just let my imagination run wild.

I sat on the edge of the bed and... may have bounced a bit, and may have been a little too ... vigorous.
