What is your favorite place to relax?

I keep thinking how much I'd love a hammock in my back yard.  We have some really nice, mature trees and I love to sit under the biggest in a plastic Adirondack style chair.  Even in the middle of summer it's much cooler in the shade of that tree.  Plus we almost always have a breeze.  Aaahhhhh!  Nice!  We had the trees trimmed up when we first moved in; they used to have a lot of lower hanging branches and that's what started the hammock talk.  I actually cried when I came home from work and saw how much they'd trimmed off!  (I blame pregnancy on that one though.
)  But it's regrown enough now that it's really pleasant there.  I just need a hammock and a good book.  Sounds heavenly!!

I wonder if DH would like one for Father's day this year?

Probably on the couch or love seat.  I watch TV sitting there and also reading.  My couches are overstuffed and very comfy.

On my over sized sofa on my screened in back porch. I love to get there on a cool day with a quilt, a cup of coffee and my cat. I fall asleep and wake up with Mattie on my chest staring me in the face. I used to do that and wake up with Speedboat on my chest, Muffin on one side and Mattie on the other. Oh, me. Now I miss my cats.

Definitely our living room sofas are my favorite, they are so soft and cushy. Add a fire in the fireplace and I'm a happy person. We live in a small (<1000 sq ft) house so there aren't that many choices. The backyard is too windy and chilly to spend much time there, even summer nights are just too cold.

My bed count?  All I need is right there.  Love the recliner but it has issues staying fully out if you do not put enough pressure on it.  And...I am having trouble getting out of it cause so bloated.

That sounds wonderful!  If we had a screened porch out back I'd spend a lot of time there!  It's too "buggy" outside in the evening here to be out and really relax during the evening in the summer.  But being covered I'd get 3 seasons of use at least out of a screened porch!  As a girl I loved to sit on my grandparent's covered patio and watch the rain with my Grandpa.  Still do when I visit too. Their patio has lattice to provide some extra privacy too.

A hammock would be great in my back yard.  Lots of shade!  Otherwise it's the recliner for me, and sometimes the beach.

...with the cats...
my favorite place to relax is in the living room, sitting in the chair at the computer. it's a cloth covered, cushioned executive chair with arm rests (bought used via craigslist for $30 several years ago). of course, this is one of the two chairs i have in my whole house. the second chair is a nice wide-seated cedar rocking chair that i keep upstairs in the sitting area outside my bedroom. most of my furniture and seating is for kitties, and there is more cat furniture than human furniture in my house.

Behind my apartment is a park trail, with lots of trees and nature. We have a public yard-like area for resident use that borders the park, and there is a public seat  and a barbecue set. I like to sit there and read and relax on nice days, just hearing the squirrels and birds and the soothing faraway hum of cars on the freeway. For some reason people rarely use that seat, so it's usually empty.

Anywhere I can read a book and have the cats with me. I'm happy on the couch. I'm happy flopped in bed.

Before I had my Nook, a few days before Rick would leave for Virginia (it was Virginia back then; now it's Oregon), I'd head to the library for 9 or 10 books. The first day he was gone, I'd clean the house. The second day? Oh, that was my day. I'd pile my books up on the floor next to the couch with a glass of high-octane Pepsi. Then I'd flop on the couch and grab a book and start reading. Banshee would jump up on my chest and lay down, followed by the other cats. And we'd be there all day long, for hours and hours. Just reading with the cats sleeping around me. Those times are some of the most peaceful times I think I've ever had. There is no quiet like the quiet of six cats sleeping the day away with the sounds of pages turning in a book.

Mooch, you mentioned a hammock. I gave dear Richard a hammock one year for Fathers Day. He put it up under our silver maple tree. And one summer afternoon, Banshee and I went outside and hit the hammock. I was lying there and she was lying on my chest. And I fell asleep. Thankfully, so did she, and I think we were there for quite a while. I don't know why she never jumped off my chest and I'm grateful that she never did. I never thought about what would happen if she got loose outside. But she didn't. I never did that again.

Why couldn't you get one for mother's day?

Mostly the price tag.  It's easier to spend that kind of money on someone else than ask for it for myself.  From what I've seen online I might have to spend around $150 to get a hammock and a stand.  I may be able to find a set cheaper somewhere like Walmart; but if I'm going to buy one I want it to last!

It is really nice out there now since most of the pollen has been washed away. We are three acres in the middle of a big farm that has passed down in my family. The nearest house is a fourth mile away, so I am okay if I still have my night clothes on. It is very private. We replaced the screen last fall with some pet screen. It is cat resistant. :lol3:

My shower! Aside from that, though, I live in an old cotton mill beside a river, and so they've made the neighborhood really beautiful and there is so much nature around. Now that it's warming up, there are so many lovely places to relax. They have park benches by the river, walking trails, and even the patios are nice. A manufactured stream runs from the upper patio, under a catwalk, down to the lower patio into a Koi fish pond. And the lower patio has trees with pink, white and green blossoms (three different trees, each a different color), and they rise up to the upper patio. My living room windows over look all this.

Speaking of that, Oliver's favorite spot to relax is in one of those windows. He gets to overlook all that plus a pigeon nest right across from the window. About 5 feet away on a ledge.
