Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Well, Pawley's story can easily be summed up: Our neighbor saw him and said there was a new, but injured, B&W cat at the feral food. This was March 2013. We didn't see him until June, when he moved full time under the RV.

We only saw him out from under the RV three times (out the window) between then and when I finally scruffed him into a crate in January. The arctic blast was bearing down on us - we'd tried several methods to get him out from under the RV and into a crate or trap with no success, and in January, the arctic blast was bearing down on us. The morning of the night it was due to arrive, he was clearly sick with a URI. I couldn't take it, and that was that. My petting (which he only allowed starting in Nov/Dec despite being there two meals a day, every day) just turned into a grab. ;)

X-ray at the vet revealed a formerly broken leg that has set, his elbow knitted together and now with very bad arthritis. He has a terrible limp.

We've never used a crate to introduce a cat before, but he needed quarantine and a safe space. His journey is detailed in this thread: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/270195/pawley-and-all-of-us-could-use-your-vibes/240#post_3540579

And this is Pawley (who is officially #9 inside - I added him to my signature line! :lol3: ). He is turning 2 around now.

He slept in his hidey bed. He didn't do much but sleep for ... a month or so.

Hah! Looks like he's landed on his feet! Sitting in that window, he looks rather relaxed. I bet he needed that month of sleep. He seems better now.

I remember how worried you were during that cold snap. We all were worried for our ferals. But kitties are tough and smart and they know how to find a cat-loving human when they really need one.

Laurie you've done such a wonderful job with this little guy.  Wishinig Pawley many more years as a happy indoor kitty.
