Another cell phone question - insurance

How necessary is it to get the insurance?  I've had my current phone for two years without insurance and everything is fine.  However, if I'm getting brand new state of the art $600 phones - should I be playing it safe and getting the insurance?  I'm so torn about it, because I think it's a major rip off (like the extended warranty on stuff), but on the other hand if something does happen to one of these phones I'm kinda screwed.  Opinions?

For goodness sakes stay away from Ensquared cell phone insurance.  Total hassle and a rip off. 

Hmm, I'll have to see what kind this is that Verizon has.

I think that's Asurion and it is a very good company.

I think I will take my chances and skip the insurance.
