Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong with my cat's fur/skin?

We recently (~2 months ago) adopted Oscar, an attention-loving 2 year-old rescue cat. His fur was very long and dry when we first got him, and around the third or fourth week of having him he began shedding excessively until he had lost almost all of his fur on the sides of his body (the fur on his back and belly was unaffected, strangely). We took him to a vet during this period and she applied Revolution Blue to his skin to combat any parasitic infection he may have contracted at the shelter, but she he was not able to provide a specific diagnosis.

The shedding eventually stopped and his fur has slowly been growing back since then (although it is still patchy and dry), so we thought everything was okay. Today, though, we noticed a yellow-ish scab/lesion on his shoulder and we have begun to worry again. We have taken some pictures of his fur and skin -- can anyone help us identify what could be wrong with him?

The fur on his sides is almost non-existent, but the fur on his belly is very long (although still patchy!).

The hair really thins out towards his butt and hind legs...

From our research, it looks like this could be a sign of ringworm, but we aren't sure.

Thanks in advance!

Hi OscarGonzales and welcome to the site

There's a problem with your pics (as you can see).  Are you using the little picture icon in your reply box?  When you point at it it will say 'insert image' and then you just follow the instructions.

Ringworm usually presents itself as small areas of oozing sores with hair loss.  Do you see any skin problems, of just hair falling out?

Apologies for the image embedding problems! Here are the pictures I tried to embed:

Hi Brittany.

I'm afraid the person who started this thread hasn't been back for a few years, so we don't know for sure what the problem was. Why don't you start a new thread about your kitten? You'll get a lot more help that way.

Good luck, I hope it isn't anything too serious.
