Hi about a half hour ago I was awakened to a constant meower outside my window.  I went outside and found a beautiful male black and white "moo cat" . The cat is sweet as anything and not malnourished but purefct size. I fed it and watered it and took it's picture and will distribute flyers after coffee and am keeping him safe in my backyard.

Why is this little guy meowing non stop? My neighbors are gonna freak!! Could he be needing to mate-It is a normal meow not a howly one or do cats do that when lost. He does not appear to be in any physical pain and is a love button. I am sure someone is missing him.

Some cats are just more vocal than others. It could just be that.  He might also be trying to communicate to you his thanks and/or that he is lost, not understanding that you get that already
He also could be distressed and dealing with it through meowing. At this point I would not worry TOO much about it

Let us know how the flyers go!  If he seems super social and not scared and a healthy weight, it also can't hurt to take him somewhere to be scanned for a microchip.

TY I was going to do that but the little guy ran off! He was a meowing away happy in my back yard and flirting with my kitten through the screen for over an hour. I went off to put a few flyers out at our community mail box and came back and he was gone. I hope he went home. Now I am gonna get calls and I have no cat. :(. I would not have grabbed him if I did not sense something was amiss. TY for your response.

Let the flyers be where they already are. If he didnt went back home, his owners are surely still seeking him.
they will be happy to get at least a half trace after him.

IF he got home, his owners will hopefully see the flyers, and contact you anyway, to say tx, and let you know you can take them down.

You did entirely right, it is so one should do when you see a cat who apparently got freshly astray or got freshy dumped - help him as well you can (preferably taking him in too), AND putting up flyers / seeking actively after owners,
parallelly.

Good luck!

Kitty came back at 6am meowing again. I fed him and he ran off. The flyers must have helped as I found out he has an owner a whole street over that has been called before. Story is he followed a man that was walking to my hood and decided he liked it better here.

I am going to get the number myself and call the owner too. I do not mind a sweet visitor from time to time and we have food to share, but my fear is my neighbors will get pissed at the early meowy wakeup call-I live in a townhouse complex and several families got awakened with the 2 day show. The shelter is only 1 mile away and I would not put it past one of them to take him there and I don't want that to happen.

This cat belongs indoors. It is soooooooo sweet, and clearly kittenish in behavior. It does meow a lot though even after fed. Here is my visitor.

I'm glad to hear you found his family. He's a sweetheart, isn't he? I agree, it's probably not a good idea for him to be out on his own. Do you think they let him out early or leave him out all night?

A call to his owners is in order, I think. It would be terrible if anything happened to him.

Kitty returned for another visit for 3 visits total since Easter Sunday. Meowing at my door at about 730am. I took him in back and gave him a treat. I know I am rewarding the bad behavior but he is hungry! Unfortunately, my 8 month old although very friendly ran into the back and spooked him. Poor visiting cat jumped off a high fence in fear. I chased him down and he is ok. But I think he is pissed. I never met such a sweet social cat. He just comes right up to you and rubs you and really plays with toys when I bring then out.

I can't reach the "owner"  and someone on Craigslist said he will take the cat but I can't do that if he has a real owner. I am hoping the kitty  is just visiting for extra handouts. The fact that he only visits me at a certain times and leaves despite me offering food and water and love makes me think he does have another home. Regardless, it pisses me off such a nice cat is outside at all. I do not understand people.

Why don't you try putting a cheap collar on him and attaching a note saying. "Does this cat have a home? If not I will re-home him."

His owner may not realise that he is coming to visit you. The fact that he isn't that hungry suggests someone is taking care of him. It's worrying that he is out so often, but the feral cats I feed are outdoors whenever the weather is good. He might not have a proper owner, might be being fed by someone though.
