In the last couple months, my 13 year old cat (male, indoor since 8 weeks, neutered at 5 months) has become a lot more attached to me. He always preferred me, and was attached to me, but now he rarely leaves my side. (I've worked from home the last 7 years). When I go to sleep, he's next to me, when I wake up, he's still there (even when I sleep 10 hours). During my awake hours, even when my laptop is on my lap, he gets halfway on my lap and doesn't get up except occasionally to eat, drink, or use the litterbox. He wants to be with me ALL the time. I love him and that's fine but it wasn't always this way. I'm just worried if he's not feeling well or if it's just an age thing?

Has anything in his environment changed? A change in routine? An addition or removal of something (or someone)?

When was the last time he was at the vet? Senior cats should really have a check-up every six months...once at year at the bare minimum. If he's due, I'd take him in and have him looked at, just to be on the safe side.

If your vet rules out a medical issue, then it is probably less serious, such as getting a little more needy in his old age or seeking your company as a result of a change.
