I was in the restroom this morning and another woman walked in. I know who she is and she's a nice lady....we usually see each in the restroom, so we chat a bit from time to time. She's a runner, but she hasn't had a lot of time to run and the weather's been really crappy, so she hasn't been out in a few months. She always gives me a thumbs up when she comes in and sees me getting ready for my walk.

I took notice that she had her hair cut short and I told her how nice it looked. She thanked me and mentioned how thin her hair was getting and how she finally decided to get it cut short. Then she touched my hair and said how pretty it was. She said "It's hard when we're in our 40s and things start to go."

That stopped me dead in my tracks. And I looked at her and said, "I'm so far from my 40s, I'll never see it again. I'm 59 years old and 60 is this close." Then SHE stopped dead. With her mouth agape. "No! No way are you 59! Not with that head of hair! And not with those legs!"

So I gave her a hug.

How wonderful!!!! I would kiss her! I'm 58 but around 6 year olds all day, so all I hear is how old I am, I feel like Methuselah! Especially when all their parents are younger then my kids! And you know kids, "how old are you?" and then when I tell them, it's "WOW, you are older then my grandma!"

She came over to my office yesterday afternoon. Said that she heard that I liked margaritas. Turns out she does, too. And would I like to go out for Mexican sometime? She knows the best place. (Turns out, it's the place my work mates and I always go to when we want Mexican.) So since Rick is busy next Tuesday night--he'll be working on invitations for his class reunion this fall--she and I are doing Mexican for dinner.

What lovely compliments.
Good for you.
When I was in my 30's my daughter came home from school and told me she had a new teacher. I asked the normal questions and is she young or old! Bad move.
'Like you mummy. She's old'. Thank you Joanna.
