Hi all ;)

My 3 year old boy Jinx is sick with Corona atm but he has anal gland problems and has had them since a tiny kitten. He regularly gets them drained and then all is good for a few months!
Last week he had them drained and then the vet put some sort or smell control liquid and some antiseptic cream on him bum (he had never had either of these 2 before), since then Jinxie has been leaving little poo nuggets all round the house! I have rang the vet but they dont seem too worried. Should I book in or leave it a bit longer? I dont want to go in and they just look at his bum and say oh he is fine! Clearly he is not.
He is his usual self and eating and drinking. He seems happy..its just gone on a while. :/

Hhhrrrmmmm now this is an interesting problem I have never heard of before!

I suppose the big question I have off the bat is how do you know that the antiseptic liquid and cream is what is causing it? Did they say that could be a side effect or is it just because his change in bowel habits happened right after they put it on?

Even though I know it's not what you want to hear I do think you need to take him back in and have him looked at. Anytime a cat has a change in their bathroom habits it's cause for concern. It could be a side effect of the medications, or perhaps that he ingested some when grooming himself, or caused by something totally unrelated. But, whatever the cause the fact is his bowel habits have changed and you always want to start with a professional opinion when trying to figure out the 'why.'

My guess is that they are going to want to do a stool analysis so make sure you try and grab a sample before it gets covered in litter. You can even keep it in the fridge for up to 12 hours to keep it 'fresh'.

Vibes that it's nothing serious. Keep us posted as to what the vet says!

My cat with chronic constipation issues used to leave poo nuggets. She didn't seem to know she was dropping them and we often found them in her bed when she got up from her nap. And they would be randomly on the floor, just one little nugget at a time, dry enough I could pick them up with a tissue and there was no mess. Could your kitty be constipated? Does he poop a couple times a day?

Well I rang the vets today (my fave is on holidays)and they said if he is fine in himself and eating and pooping normal (aside from the extra nuggets) then there is nothing they can do. Its gone on a week now and this is gross but I stripped the bed today (after finding some nugs on the top of quilt) and there was a nug IN THE BED! I slept with it..eww. Jinxie sleeps under the quilt with me and must have dropped one..yuck!!!!
They are solid too..like rabbit poop.

Well, Jinx always gets drained (apparently its rare in cats but more common in dogs, although my sisters cat has the same) and never has the de-odour stuff on or the antiseptic cream. As soon as we got home he started dropping the poo. So its all I can think of. At 1st the vets said the cream could have numbed his bum and he lost control but it would wear off..
