and which may help others in their pain.
As I posted elsewhere, Zimmie died last Thursday and the pain has been horrendous. (I don't need to tell you guys how bad that can be.)
The next day I went to Stop and Shop and bought a pretty houseplant. I re-potted it in a nice pot I had at home and underneath the pot I inscribed Zimmie's name and the date she died. The plant is now with my other houseplants in my sunroom. Every day I turn the pot to the sun and I read what I wrote underneath the pot. This comforts me tremendously.
But my husband did the very best thing. On top of Zimmie's grave in our backyard he planted a maple tree seedling. As he puts it, Zimmie is now a tree and will live on forever. I thought this was the most beautiful thing and it gives me enormous comfort to go outside every day and say hello to Zimmie.
Just a couple of little things that could be done, which may help someone else in their loss.
