I got my kitten a new water dish. It's a drinking fountain actually. I noticed on day 2 she was not drinking at all. I switched back to her original water dish and she still won't drink. This is going on day 3 with no liquids. I am very worried about her. She was panting very bad after just a little of play so I did schedule a vet appointment for her but that's not going to make her drink out of her. Any suggestions? My poor Little Miss Meowsalot really needs to drink.

If she is eating wet food. She will get a lot of moisture from that, as wet food has a very high water content. Also you can add water to her wet food if you think she is not drinking enough. :D

I do feed her wet food. I'll add a little water to it for her dinner. Thanx for the tip.

Second GemsGem's advice to add water to her canned food. If you have extra ceramic bowls then now is a good time to add more water dishes to get her mind thinking DRINK !!!! Also - make sure if you put out the drinking fountain again keep the regular water dish available and away from the fountain until you are certain that Miss Meowsalot is drinking comfortably from the fountain. In fact, a good thing to always remember when adding anything new to a cat's environment - always keep the old around until the new is completely accepted. Goes for litter boxes too. ;)

If you pull up on the skin on her back (tent it) and it immediately goes back to normal then she is not dehydrated but if it goes back a bit slowly - then get her to the vet right away for fluids. Sorry that water dish put her off but I think she will be alright!!

I replaced one for the other with her water situation. I did pull back on her skin and all is okay. Being a new fur baby momma i tend to freak out about everything. I just want the best for her :heart4:
