Over the past few days, my husband and I have noticed some subtle changes in our little girl. She has been eating close to every hour throughout the day, possibly throughout the night too (matter of fact, she just ate 10 min ago and is eating again), she threw up last night, and IS looking a big rounder in her tummy. I honestly cannot tell by her nipples but we are treating the situation as though her and our male cat are expecting.

Anyway, she is a year and a half old, we have had her since she was 8 weeks. She and our male cat (who is only a couple months older than her) have grown up together.

Based on these pics, do you think she may be? It's so hard to tell but if so, how far along do you guys think?

Sorry, you probably get these questions all of the time but I am trying to document her size and changes throughout this but am not sure if I am way off base in thinking she is pregnant.

To be honest if neither of them have been spayed / neutered then she is very likely to be pregnant and I'm surprised she hasn't been before now, as for how far along she is if you don't know the date of conceptions it's pretty impossible to tell in real life let alone from pictures, as a general guide kittens can usually be felt moving 2 (sometimes maybe 3) weeks before birth so that can give a guide if you keep an eye on her belly and stroke / lay your hand on her often

Any cat who is unspayed and has been exposed to an intact male can be safely assumed to be pregnant this time of year :(. Be aware that cats can get pregnant again right away after giving birth (this is very hard on their bodies, not to mention adding more to the overpopulation problem) so keep her away from the male until after she's spayed. Although if you have him neutered right away he should be fully infertile by the time she gives birth, so that would work out well too.

Thanks everyone! We are getting our male fixed asap. I feel like a fool because we did not adopt him and were told when we got him that he was fixed. Everything I read says he was way too young to have been fixed so... regardless, it was our fault for not getting them taken to the vet regularly. Luckily, they are strictly indoor cats so we now can remedy this situation in the future. We are hoping she pulls through okay; she's our baby. When we get rid of these kittens, we are going to ask for $20 to $25 to go toward getting her fixed. Again, thanks everyone!

And I mean, we are not asking anyone to contribute to getting her fixed. That's our responsibility. The money would just ease our minds they are hopefully going to good people..but that is what we are using the money for.

Well, I am starting to think she's not pregnant. My male cat will not stop trying to mount her, we have them separated right now. When she is away, he stands at our door crying...maybe she is in heat, maybe pregnant. We just can't tell. She's very vocal, cuddling, and constantly licking her privates so I've read these are all indications of being in heat. No different physical changes..we are taking her to the vet so we will see!

Hmm, how old was your male when you got him and who told you he was already fixed? Does he have visible testicles? It is possible for a neutered male to have a reaction to a female in heat, and that would explain why she hasn't gotten pregnant before, and why she is (maybe) in heat again. Hopefully that's the case.

I posted a few weeks ago about my cat possibly being pregnant. We took her to the vet and they confirmed that she was.but gave absolutely no indication of how far along. They told us to make her nesting box and keep an eye on her, make sure she was on high quality kitten food, and gave us some Advantage.

Yesterday night, we got home and there was a brown, muscous discharge all over our sheets. Today, she has been having brownish discharge everywhere. I have pics. I called the vet and took her up there this morning.

It was such a waste of a trip. The vet told me nothing..the only.helpful info I got was my cats temperature which was 101.3. She took out this huge encyclopedia like book and started telling me signs of labor being near..I told her I just wanted to know if all.of this discharge is normal. I showed her the towel Freya was lying on because it was on that. She went back to her big book and said discharge was a sign labor would begin within 12 hours. What?!? Her temperature would indicate otherwise wouldn't it?

I'm so frustrated and worried. My cat is still eating a lot, very active..the only changes are she is following me everywhere and burying herself under the blankets. She won't have anything to do with the nesting box.

I feel like I've learned more from this forum than from the vet.

Pics of the discharge if they upload are below

Hello, in my experience vets don't know much about pregnant cats, I had similar trip few weeks back, all she could say was she was pregnant and that was it, so this site has been really helpful.  We think Lola due any day, we too have never had a pregnant Mama so its a lot of guessing for me.  I do believe discharge is a sign of mucus plug coming away but stories vary to delivery being imminently after...or you might see nothing for a few days. Another thing I hear a lot is that you see milk/colostrum from nipples 24-48 hrs before delivery.  Hopefully someone more experienced will post in a while for you.

Thank you! I really don't think a majority know anything either...she acted like I was the first person to ever bring a pregnant cat in. Lol.. My cat is licking her private area more but it still seems like she is leaving discharge where she lays and sits.

Hiya, it sounds like a mucus plug and as long as its not puss / green or smells I'd guess it's natural? My girl had some yesterday- not much but It can have some blood in it which may account for the colour? As for your vet... Useless! At least her temp wasn't high indicating infection. Hope your kittens arrive soon! Feels like an eternity waiting!

Yes no bad smell and not green so that's good. She seems so normal lol..nothing like a cat who is anywhere near labor. Still eating like a pig too haha

I know what you mean about the vet, ours looked at me like I had brought an alien in and put it on the table!  Aren't they funny these pregnant Mamas, every little sign we think this must be it, then they go and have a big feed and sleep and are back to pottering around

Ha ha yes, my girl has had me up through the night on many occasions raring to go and after keeping me up for hours scratting away and meowing, promptly falls back asleep leaving me baffled and totally gutted! So glad there's no smell, it should be fine but if you have any other cause for concern I'd try seeking out a different vet!

New pic...this is currently discharging from her vulva :/...I am really freaking out. She won't stay in one spot but mostly wants to be on the bed. And still no crying or being vocal. Idk!!

It looks like she is having contractions now. She still hasn't made much noise but she looks okay I think.

Hello! I am a first time cat owner and mine delivered yesterday. That is how mine looked when her water broke. She had the first one 6 hours later. I just posted my experience, hopefully that'll help. Good luck.
