Anyone know anything about dried ingredients? (ie dried chicken)

I was looking around at some foods lately and I noticed a type of ingredient I've never seen before: dried protein sources.
I know I was highly disappointed when I relearned that 'meal' proteins can contain 4D animals and packaging because I had forgotten and thought meals were just dried forms of the named meat.
But what about dried proteins like dried chicken? Is there some hidden meaning behind it or is it actually just dried slaughtered chicken?
It would be huge if these were legit because then they don't drop down the list like un-dried meats and up the meat based protein content quite a bit.

I found a site about dog food that is excellent. They break down each ingredient and explain exactly what it is, how it is produced and if it is beneficial. Chances are if the company makes both dog and cat food, they will have used this dried protein in their dog food as well, so you may be able to find it on their lists. Everything is listed by how many stars they give the food and you can search by brand name.
I put 'dried protein' in the search bar and it came back with results of foods with chicken meal listed as the first ingredient, so the specific brand of food might get better results.

I hope this has the info you need!

I use dogfoodadvisor all the time actually, but it doesn't list the specific food that had dried chicken in it and the search brings up foods that don't have dried chicken in them.
That's why I came here, because that site and the web had no info I could find on it. :p

I love dogfoodadvisor! I use it all the time. I wish they would make the exact same thing for cat food because it covers lots of things Dr. Pierson's list does not. There are similar sites, but none are as good.

If you haven't found anything, you might have to call the manufacturer. It might be entertaining to hear them tap dance around about what exactly it is (maybe I am being too cynical, they might be very helpful and forthcoming with the information). I am wondering if they are just using different words for chicken meal? Dried protein might sound better than chicken meal to someone just skimming the back of the bag, as demanded by the Blue Buffalo commercials.

You're in luck, because there is actually a cat version in the works. http://catfoodadvisor.com

I don't know if I'm desperate enough to call yet, but it's an idea.
