well, I have a beautiful torti(indoor princess) as seen in my picture...she went missing two days ago and I feel so overwhelmed we have had 2 pet detectives and have 2 traps and a camera...no sign, we have reunited 4 cats with other families but my lady...I miss her dearly but I cant physically look anymore(I type one diabetic and have a serious illness), I have sent out fliers..and done every single trick in the book to find her-no she wasnt spayed she was going to be come Monday...I miss her I just want to know the likely hood of her coming back. I know it sounds crazy but I am meeting with an animal communicator thursday. I cannot deal with not knowing I am so upset during the days I feel she is coming back and at night my heart aches because she used to lay on my feet. I feel like I am going insane over a kitty :(

Thanks for everything in advanced

Don't lose hope. If she went into heat, she will most likely come back after she has mated. Unfortunately that means she will most likely be pregnant when she returns, so you do need to be prepared for that.

You are doing all the right things. Have you tried leaving things out with your scent on them? Or leaving out her litter which has her scent? Many vibes for her safe return.

Ni Nicki,

Welcome to The Cat Site. Sorry that it's not under happier circumstances. It sounds like you're already doing a lot to look for her. Was she an indoor only cat or did she have outdoor access? Indoor only cats tend to stay close to home and hide, but if she was used to going out and not spayed she may have gone off to look for a mate. In that case the best thing to do is wait for her to come home and then make another appointment to get her spayed as soon as possible.

Cats respond to smell rather than sights so you could help her to smell her way back home. You could either use the litter from her litter box or the dust bag from your vacuum cleaner and sprinkle a trail from your house out in any likely directions she may have gone in. I found opening the kitchen window and cooking something cats love to eat helped well. Two of my girls went missing for three days earlier this year, but came home when I started to boil some chicken.

Good luck, keep us posted on how everything goes.

And please don't give up. I had a cat come home after being lost for ten days in deep snow this February. Cats are amazingly resilient creatures and are able to fend for themselves much better than we can imagine.

Are there any feral cat colonies in your area? Anyone who leaves food out for stray cats? Cats tend to gather together, particularly if there is a food source or members of the opposite sex. Keep checking the places that stray cats hang out, maybe ask the pet detective to set up a camera in those areas. She might show up there.

The best time to look for her is between midnight and dawn but please get someone to go with you if you're walking around at that time. Keep safe.

I hope she comes home soon.

I am so sorry your sweet girl is missing.  Please do not give up hope.  Many of us have used animal communicators and they can be very helpful.  If you are able or have a family member to help, go door to door with a flier that has a picture of her on it.  You also can make up large posters to place on telephone or utility poles with her picture.  Taking an ad out in the paper as well.

You are in my thoughts.

I sorry your girl is missing & hope she'll be home again soon. I echo the other replies; she could be looking for a mate, she could be hiding somewhere - maybe shut in a garage by mistake?
Years ago my neighbour's elderly cat, who always stayed close to home, went missing for nearly 2 days. None of us thought to look in the old storage shed until I went in there for something (none of us actually used it except to store unwanted stuff). Poor old girl shot out when I opened the door & crouched shivering & crying (neighbour wasn't home at the time, so I cuddled & comforted her & brought her into my place for a needed drink & a snack). She hadn't made a sound until then.
Sorry to go on, but it was just a thought that your cat could be in that situation?

Oh I do hope she'll be back; we're all with you on this. '

I presume you have checked with your local SPCA or animal shelter in case she was taken there?

I would recommend you go out, walk around and call her.   After each call stand silently and listen.   You may hear her call back to you if say she is trapped somewhere and cant get out.   Like previously said maybe locked in a shed.   We found our cat like this after 5 days she had jumped down into a storm drain but could not climb back out.

Good luck

Z
