Hello!

I have a cat who had kittens 16 days ago (barn cat) and now I just caught another barn cat who should give birth any day now.  Can I put them in the same room or would that be bad?    I have the one who already gave birth in a bedroom, and the pregnant one in a bathroom.  I hate to leave her in there, but I don't want any fighting or for the kittens to get hurt.  Any ideas?  Please and thank you.

They are not my cats, they belong to the farmer, and we are working on getting everybody fixed.  Guess we got started a little bit to late  :(

That's really hard to say. If they weren't friends before, it is most likely that they will consider each other a threat to their kittens. I would be very cautious.

Thanks for helping these pregnant ladies. Hopefully this farmer doesn't have any more intact cats. Otherwise it sounds like you are going to be swimming in kittens soon. :(

They haven't hung out since Feb. when I took Grumpy inside, but they do know each other.  So fingers crossed!

There are at least 12 more cats out there waiting to be fixed.  I already got 8 done but people keep dropping them off!  I did find a company who is sponsoring me so that I can get them all fixed for free; it's just hard catching them all in time.  I've started with the friendliest and putting in a lot of time trying to get the others to like me.  Most are feral but I have a live trap ready.  Just running out of room to put cats in the house!   We already have our own cats (already been fixed), so hopefully I can get these two mamas together.

Yeah, make a try.  But be very cautious and observant at the meeting!  Try to let them meet somewhere neutral, at a place both knows. Ie let them both visit this place, in turn, and then let them meet there.

Cats used to be many together, like colony living semiferales, and barn cats, often develop good sociale skills, and thus, are easy to get together.      also, if they are good friends, it si quite common they help each other with the kitten care.

But if it dont works out, do have it as you do have it now. Its OK for them!   A big dog crate is another variant here.

If you are the least bit hesitant, keep them separated.

Swell you got this company to sponsor you.  Do you think you can describe this story more? It could be an marvellous tip for others, both rescuers AND companies wanting positive PR.  In an own thread with a good title, so it gets visible and easy to search  For others to get inspiration?  Here or in the Stray and ferale forum....

Use the occasion in the S&F  to  ask for  Friend of ferales - badge.

Now when the friendliest are taken, proceed with this trap.  You dont need to make yourself their best friend.  a good trap is enough.

You are their best friend by TNR:ing them.

Good luck!

tx for helping these our small sisters and brothers!

Well, brought Kira in last night, and came home from work just now to find 4 brand new kittens!  Guess I will give her some time before I take her to join Grumpy in the bedroom.  Thanks for the advice everyone.

There must be a busy orange daddy somewhere! They are absolutely adorable, I swear there is NOTHING cuter then a baby kitten! (Sorry, but I think newborn humans look like chimps!
