So my friend dropped a kitten off at my house two days ago between age of 6-8 weeks. She has been eating wet food with kitten formula mix in i have also added some water to it to make sure she stays hydrated. While today she has puked 3 times all the size of a dime or smaller. Im trying to find out if its because i gave her too much wet kitten food She ate close to a can today with some softened kitten food DO you think she had upset belly and thats why she got sick? The 3 times she has gotten sick have been hours apart

Good you are observant.   although so far this doesnt sounds much alarming, unless it continues of course or she has also other signs of being unwell..

It may be the new food as you say. Or too guickly eating.  Or if she wasnt properly dewormed... Or...

Good you use wet canned food as her main base.   Dry food mostly as extra.   You probably dont need to wet down this dry food.   But have some drinking water accessible for her.

I would think it was the food... Some cheap dry food has food colorings that I have known some cats to be allergic to... She could of eaten to much... Does she have long hair? Maybe hairballs? I would definitely get her dewormed as mentioned above... At 6-8 weeks a good kitten dry food should be great for her.. Just leave a small bowl out with fresh water and may be just give her a small amount of wet kitten food for a treat... Good. Luck and let us know how she's doing..

She is a fluffy kitten and she cleans herself quiet often so it could be a hairball but i also called my friend to check when she had dewormed her since she said she had dewormed her and she said she hasnt dewormed She said she was confused and thought she did. She has a vet appointment on friday . The dry food we feed her has no dyes in it. She seems fine today playing and running around

If you are feeding her dry food, add some kitten formula or water to it so it will swell before she eats it.  If kittens eat dry food, they often eat a little too much, then drink water, and the food swells up bigger than their little tummies can handle so they have to vomit some of it up.  I never give small kittens dry food for that reason.

Your advice really makes a lot of sense! I have never thought about that... I'm fortunate enough I have never come across the issue, but I will remember this when my kittens come of age. I have rescued a few abandoned litters and from the time they are weaned we use wet food until 8 weeks and then start on dry. Thanks for the advice! It helps us all!

This is a picture of Shadow the 6-8 week old with Psycho our 7 month old I had let them together since she got here since was suppose to have been dewormed.  Psycho is going to go to shadows vet appointment with here on friday Since the second they are separated psycho and the Shadow start crying for each other. So Im gonna find out from vet if she wants to deworm psycho again. Shadow also looks pure black in this picture but she has some lighter tans and a white streak with red spots on her chest and some tan around her eyes My friend called her a black calico

You should see psycho if she is in a different room and hears shadow meow there she goes racing by and checks shadow all over and nuzzles her

Thanks It seems the kitten is rather attached to me She follows me around the house and sleeps on me during the day. Psycho has been getting a tad bit to possessive so we have been sepertating them at night. which makes the kitten sad but it helps make psycho reliaze 2 thing 1 She cant be constantly with shadow and shadow will be fine and 2 things are no different then before when she slept in my room. Shadow also passed the most important test My dad got back from a business trip and said the kitten can stay Which makes us all very happy

A little update for you guys Shadow is doing good hasnt been sick since my first ppost SHe has learned to use the litter box for the most part, She is now trying to stalk things She isnt very good at it yet but shes learning and she is also fearless climbed up and over the child gate we had so she would stay in office at night now she has has to stay in the cat carrier at night till she gets a bit bigger

Now i have a question Psycho and shadow have been playing but psycho forget sometimes that shadow is much smaller then her I always separate them for a couple mins when psycho gets to rough but is there a way to get psycho to realize she cant play that hard with shadow?

Nay, not really. If the little one is shrieking and protesting, that is the usual "memento", the stopper which tells enough is enough.
So your stopping the excesses is in a way antiproductive....

Although I did myself use to try and stop them whenever I think it is proper.

At least putting a hand between them. Or talking sweetly to them both usually soothens down the tensions.

But taking aside one of them, several minutes or if necessary, several hours, may be used too if necessary.

Good luck!

I dont seperate them till after shadow has cried out and i always watch before i seperate them since psycho will stop and look at shadow for a second or two then go right back to the hard playing which makes shadow cry again thought she does stop stop sometimes
