A couple of months ago when clipping Saxon's claws I noticed that I one of his dew claws was looking a little sore and was all red and swollen. After a couple of days it seemed to have healed and was looking good. Just this week, he looks to do have hurt his dew claw again, can't remember if it is the same one. How could I prevent him from hurting his dew claw, I keep his claws trimmed regularly. And is there anything I could rub on the hurt areas to help them heal faster?

Hi

Can you take a photo?  This new injury, it wasn't from trimming his nail, but just appeared out of the blue? Does he go outdoors?

Thanks

Stephen

He may be getting it caught on something, watch him for a few days to see.It may also be a reoccurring infection. You could call a vet and see if they could give you any home remedies to try. Did you google it? Good luck and tell us what you find!

Unfortunately can't post a photo, the day I posted this the silly boy jumped on a hot plate just moments after it was turned off. He is a little protective of that paw. But the antibiotics we got got the burn the vet said could help with the dew claw. She seems to think he got it snagged on something around the house as he isn't an outside cat, will keep an eye out if it happens again.
