For children it was a bit Willy Wonka-ish... huge vats of churning chocolate, freebies all the way through, and a box of samples and a cadbury's chocolate milk at the end.  They certainly don't do that anymore!
And then you watch an episode of Bones and realize that your chocolate may very well contain a dead body in it.
My childhood memories have just gone all CSI...

I think they are nasty too! Waste of chocolate. I like the caramel ones though. They don't have creme inside.. just caramel. :)  And the candies that are like m&m's with a sugar coated shell. But I really don't like cadbury creme eggs!

I do not like the Creme Eggs, but I love the little Cadbury Mini Eggs. They are kind of like M&M's on steroids. My favorite easter treat is the Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. I have always wondered why the eggs taste so much better than any of the other Reese's peanut butter shapes. I assume they are made with the same ingredients ...

I don't think I ever ate one. Are they gluten free.:lol3:
Oh my. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home from church tonight. Guess what they had for "buy one and get one free". Now hubby and I have both had one. Much too sweet.

I used to love them until Hershey's bought the American Cadbury and changed the recipe. Now it tastes just like all the other cheap American chocolate. They also made them much smaller. Boo.

I'm reallllllly seriously seriously seriously tempted to run out to the store for some now.  Thanks guys. :lol3:
I think I was in high school or maybe my Freshman year of college (I studied locally and lived at home) my Mom gave me a 12 pack instead of an Easter
Basket.  (I think she stopped giving my husband and I Easter baskets when we had kids.  What's up with that!?!  I should ask! :lol3: )
What's an easter parcel?

Years ago when my kids were small and my parents came for the passover which should clash with easter as they are intertwined. Any case they brought Cadbury's eggs for the kids. However I didn't let them eat chocolate at that age so we ate them!!!!"!

An Easter basket is something that is done for the kids here in the U.S.  It's just a wicker basket with some spring type decorations on it and is filled with the fake grass, candy and little toys.  If the kids go on an  Easter egg hunt they will take the empty baskets with them to put the eggs in them.

When I was a kid I always got one of those big fruit and nut chocolate covered eggs.  I don't see them in the store anymore but they can still be ordered.  I also always got the requisite chocolate bunny.  I always ate the ears first.

Years ago, we created an Easter basket for our son when he was little. I think he was about five or so. He got up very early that morning and ate every single piece of candy in his basket.. We had one very sick little boy for a while until he got all the chocolate out of his system. From that point on, we made him a smaller Easter basket and then gave him money to buy books at the store.....our son was a big book hound; he loved to buy all kinds of books.

Denice, I always ate the ears first, too! Do you remember the comic strip Sally Forth that was in Sunday papers? Her daughter would get so disgusted with her because every year, she ate her daughter's chocolate bunny ears. She tried so hard not to, but it was all in vain. I always liked that comic because I was the same way with the bunny ears.

Mmmmm. Chocolate bunnies. I always hated when I got a hollow one. That's cheating.
When we got older, my Mom, I mean the Easter Bunny, started leaving small gifts in those plastic eggs in our baskets along with select candy. Little things like earrings or new hair ties, that sort of thing. We also got art supplies like paints and colored pencil sets. Usually a five dollar bill was in one of the eggs, or a twenty, if the Easter Bunny forgot to get change. It was always special because the baskets were left on the dining room table, a room we were usually forbidden to enter.
The easter candy I absolutely hate are Peeps. Bleech. They are so wrong. Overly sweet, covered in gritty sugar, and the texture is downright peculiar.

I bought a Creme Egg while I was grocery shopping tonight. I haven't ate it yet, but I don't think it will make it to the end of the night.

They're not my favorites.

I did try and eat some other brand of creme egg today. Someone at work left it out for grabs. They were marketed as an upscale product, about the size and look of quail eggs. But the package said "licourice." Licorice? Hmmmm. Maybe it's an acquired taste thing? OK, a lot of times people leave stuff up for grabs because they don't like it and don't want it to go to waste. One bite and I could tell these were in that category. Weeeiiirrrrd. I threw the rest away.
