Two languages fluently: English (my native tongue) and German (my husband's native language). I had German in high school and at university.

English here too.  I've always wanted to learn Italian, sense I'm half Italian. My dad doesn't speak it, but can understand some.

A few years back, I bought some CD's to learn, but It was a little hard to keep up. Sometimes, I would listen & think, "was that a "B", or a "P" in that word they just said?"  I think I need a book translator to go w/ the CD's. Then, I thought, "Who am I going to practice & speak it with anyway?" so I gave up.

Maybe one day I will have time to start back up again.  I remember a few things & words, but that's about it.

1. I speak English and Malay fluently, Japanese and Hokkien (a dialect of Chinese) passably. Mandarin... meh. I can understand casual conversation, but not speak it. Eventually I want to learn Mandarin, Spanish and ASL.

2. English, Malay and Hokkien I learnt growing up. I took Japanese for 3 years in university. Bit rusty now because all the Japanese graduated and left.

3. I have two! Negro Y Azul by Los Cuates De Sinaloa, and La Macarena! I can even sing the English remix one, and people ask me if I speak Spanish. View media item 212539

I only speak English fluently.  I understand sign language to a degree as well; but I can't sign back very well.

I have a little music in Spanish; Jaci Velasquez's music.
My step-dad was raised bi-lingual; speaking Spanish and English.  I joke that not learning Spanish was my way of rebelling as a teen; though no one pushed me to take it.

Well - I think your language - Spanish - is beautiful too!!!! In fact, Hablo un poco de Espanol. :D :smokin: :salute:

I speak very little but learned most from working with many wonderful Mexican people at the horse barns for the past 25 years !!! They taught me a lot. I also took three years of Spanish in High School and another in college. I have always wanted to learn Spanish with more fluency.

Rigel - I think your speak English extremely (well - write it too. ;) ) :hugs: :hugs: :hugs: Thank you for a great question of the day !!! :eyebrows:

One language only. It is called "Southern" English.
Definitely southern here too!

I studied French in high school, I remember a few words and that's it.  I learned German in college, but I'm certainly not fluent.  I can get by in Germany, and thankfully most German speakers are very kind and speak English.

I only speak English (and not very well sometimes!) I think you have to start young to have an easy time learning another language. I'll never forget our shock when we heard my three year old grandson speaking Spanish, following Dora on TV! We had no idea. He's 6 now and can speak Spanish quite a bit and understands it too! (of course he's OUR grandson, the smartest child ever born!) My husband keeps saying he'll be teaching his parents a lot by the time he's 10! LOL
