I'm going to order that Oxford one from Amazon.  Shouldn't really need it much but good to have on hand.

I like them. I've got one for each cat. Haven't used both at the same time since I got them, but tomorrow both girls have a vet appointment :)

I would like to install wheels on one of my hard shell cat carriers to make it easier to bring a heavy cat to the veterinarian's and found this:

My son will look it over to see if they can be installed on one of my bigger carriers.  Then all I would need is a long handle or strap (easily installed) to pull the carrier.  The other option would be to put 4 pieces of wood together, perhaps even a piece of plywood cut the size of the carrier and install wheels on that piece of wood, and then simply sit the carrier on that using a piece of that rubber shelving liner to prevent it from sliding.  If anyone has a better, easier idea, please let me know.  I know the newer canvas carriers have wheels, but  I shy away from them fearing my cats would claw the mesh and destroy it.

to TCS!

We have the Marchioro Clipper carrier (and used to have a set of wheels for it, but I have no idea where they've gotten to). The carrier has "dedicated holes" in the bottom where the wheels screw in. It's rather doubtful that you'd be able to use the wheels on another carrier.

Could you strap your carrier to a folding luggage cart/dolly with bungee cords?

According to the review on the wheels, they can only be used on the Marchioro brand carriers. I don't see how they would work on other carriers that don't have built-in sockets to snap the wheels in.

I use a furniture dolly to get multiple cats into show halls. Something like this might work for you, especially if you don't want to have the wheels on the carrier all the time. If you do a search on amazon you'll find a variety of styles and sizes.

I have a great one for you Misty!  Angel was in need of a lager one, (he is 15 lbs & long) so I looked around for a while to find one big enough, but also wanted a hard sided one.

I just feel safer in the car (God forbid anything ever happens) with a hard one. Plus, he likes to sleep in it sometimes, so is a cozy spot for him to hang out in too.

I found this one on amazon, & LOVE it! It's super easy, folds flat, just snap up the ends & it's nice & big!

It was almost too big, & thought maybe he wouldn't feel cozy & safe in it, so I put his smaller, old bed in it & he got right in!  Took less than a week!  I leave the door off of it so he can get in & out easily. (& doesn't feel like he will get closed in. He knows when it goes on, uh oh, time to go to the vets! LOL!

I am VERY pleased w/ it!!

OH, I forgot, I was going to post pictures, it's much easier to see the real size of it from home pictures, & w/ a big kitty in it!

This shows the size difference to the old one. (which was a medium)                                               "Finally checking it out...w/ the help of some treats!" ....Then backed right back out. LOL!

Good thing I held on to his old small bed!  It did the trick!  Worked great when he didn't want to get out at the vet's too, she just slid him out in it!  ;)

@Angels mommy That carrier is so pretty! I love the pawprint ventilation holes. Isn't being able to choose between loading from the top or from the front great?
Thanks! YES, It was a great find. I am VERY happy with it. Especially for the price & size!   It is nice to have that option, although, I haven't had to use the top load.  Sense he doesn't like getting in there when he knows we are going to the vets, I just put it up on the washer like that, & put him in it!    It's So funny, as much as he hates getting in to go, he can't wait to get in, when it's time to leave the vets!

Love my ancient, ugly, remarkably heavy Kennel Kabs. Nothing is sturdier or easier to use, and they're very easy to clean. My best one is over forty years old, avocado green, and weighs a ton, but its so solid and strong. Wouldn't part with them for the world!

I bought one that I could top load my little furry friends.  So much easier on all of us

Oh my gosh I absolutely love this carrier! I haven't picked my Maine Coon kitten up yet as he's too young to be away from mummy so researching everything now. Thank you for sharing! Definitely given me ideas what's out there!

UK cat carriers - I have the old style Pet Voyageur carriers in several sizes. They've been great (had them almost 30 years!). Sadly, the new version seems much flimsier. The other brand I like the look of ( but didn't buy as the shop didn't have the right size in stock) is the Ferplast Atlas range. These seem much closer to the old Pet Voyageur ones. Hope that helps :)

chromium blues chromium blues I'm in the uk. I'd never heard of those brands before joining this site. A quick search online only brings up one uk stockist - amazon uk - and they list them all as currently unavailable. I think a lot of brands commonplace in US and Canada are hard-impossible to find in th UK :)

I love the oxford one I have but it doesn't have a top opening. My girl is small enough that we just pick her up out of the carrier. She will run right back in it at the end and has no problems getting in to go somewhere. I am lucky that my cat doesn't hate her carrier though. I like that collapsable one up there for a bigger cat! Very fancy! My kitty is 8 pounds and she is not the most fun to have in the soft carrier which is why I don't think I would feel okay with anything heavier in a soft carrier. It just seems like she might topple over sometimes! But the Oxford ones have seat belt clips so you can buckle the belt then attach the carrier to the belt and the price is pretty great on them as well!
