Hello all,

I am new to cats and this thread, you all seem to have lots of experience so I was hoping to pick your brains.

I had my kitten since she was 6 weeks (I know too young to leave mum and littermates, but we were lied to :( )

Anyways, she has always been very loving until she hit 7 months. She seems to hate me; she hides in our spare room cupboard high up with the towels and bed sheets, she sits on her post in the corner of the room looking out the window whereas she used to come snuggle up to me.

She also has been sleeping on the end of my bed since around Christmas and has recently left (though this could be due to the weather) and doesn't even like me picking her up anymore. Whereas she will happily jump onto my boyfriends lap for a snooze, even though I do pretty much everything for her.

I'm hoping this will pass...any advice?

Thanks so much

Jo

I take it she is spayed, if not it is definitely hormones and  it will get a lot worse! If she has been spayed, I hate to tell you they do 'grow up' and are not as lovey, especially at  6 months to about 2 years old. My husband always asks me, "remember when they were all young and used to LOVE being on my lap?" It happens. Some cats are just more affectionate then others too, in my experience neutered males seem to be more affectionate then females. Give her time, the 'teenage' years are for playing and adventure, when she gets older she'll be a lot more affectionate then she is now. Good luck!

Yep, she was spayed at the end of January...ahh as I sadly suspected, she is growing up lol. Thank you for the reassurance.
