We used it several times for our last cat. He had a tendency to be a bit hyper, so whenever we knew we were going to be having overnight guests or a cat sitter, we used the Feliway diffuser. It did seem to make him more mellow with people.
I use one almost all the time since I have a very excitable ( and spoiled) young boy that attacks my older sweet boy when he gets TOO excited. It does seem to help. Keep an eye at Walmarts pet section, I picked up some discontinued (not expired even!) Feliway plug ins for 1.00 and they were regular 20.00! I also use 'Calming treats" I found at Amazon, they work really well too, especially for trips to the vet and when we take trips out of town, there's no gobs of hair laying around anyway because Casper is mad he can't go out! Really, I wish we could figure out a way to get him to behave better, but you know what they say, it's like herding cats! He's got a LOT of Siamese in him, that must explain it!
I'm currently using it now to deal with the addition of a new kitty into the house. My older girl, Marlie, was too afraid even to come down the hallway where I had my new cat, Tatum, in one of the rooms. It seemed to ease her stress significantly and she's back to her old self. Now I currently have it in the room with Tate in hopes that she'll tone it down a bit. She's not stressed but she's got a lot of energy in her!
I purchased a diffuser with the intent of keeping a young adult from pacing around the bedroom, licking blinds, and scratching the carpet in the early morning. I've had lukewarm results. Initally the diffuser worked well for month one, Months 2 and 3 I no longer began to notice the smell and it appeared to stop working as he would still pace around and scratch the carpert. Last weekend I purchased a refill of the diffuser and the individual spray can with the idea of hitting his favorite scratch spots. The spray seems to be working, but I think he found another spot to scratch. WTH.
I have a diffuser and a spray, both for my neutered male who cries at night. There is absolutely no improvement in his behavior, but his semi-feral sister is definitely more confident and lets us pet her more. So...
I used it when we just had 2 cats because Jinx (the 2nd in dominant boy) was chasing Roxy (the 1st in much older girl)and fighting. Also Rox is a grumble pants 24/7. No improvement at all. Roxy did get a little obsessed with the defuser and sat near it to sniff it, she liked the smell but no change in her other than that! Here in Australia its not super cheap either.. was about $120. They vet said to give it longer so we purchased a refill and that was the same.
Maybe it helps anxiety etc but it did not help my naughty boy or grumble bum girl
Lol!Whats wrong with herding cats?I do it at every meal time!I m sure you know how hard it is to make sure paddy don't take Molly's prescription diet,Didi dosent scare the little new one,etc.etc. ad nauseum.lol:
I used it and it's really helpful. When he was a kitty it's when I tended to used it more. Now he is nearly 1year old and it's not commonly needed anymore.
