I had two appointments Friday, one on campus and one off, an hour apart. I should have been able to leave one, catch the bus to the second, and arrive with about 15 minutes to spare. Unfortunately, as doctors do, the first one started late and ran long, so I missed my bus by 2 minutes. This meant I had to RUN the mile and a half to the off-campus appointment. Some people like to run in groups or with a partner, some like to run alone, but I prefer to not run at all.

Do you exercise? If so, what's your routine? Do you exercise alone or with a partner/trainer?

I want to get back into an exercise routine, but I like to workout with a partner. Since I don't have anyone here to workout with, and I live so far away from everyone else, I haven't gotten into it.

I'm not good at sports but I've always enjoyed a bit of exercise: tennis and squash until it became just too competitive for an old lady.

Jogging was fun in a group from the office until I was the only female left and the men were just a bit faster (I used to do the circuit in the opposite direction so that I could go at my own pace). Now I do aqua-jogging at the local swimming pools (twice a week) - it's great as you don't need a partner, is non-competitive and you don't have to keep in time to the music if it's too fast.

I also deliver a local free newspaper once a week (350 copies) for the exercise. My daughter got me involved - she doesn't want to have to push me around in a wheelchair, ever!

I've recently started running again, and I run alone.

-Elliptical machine

-Walking and hiking
-Swimming and cycling during the summer
-Light weight training
-Swing Dancing, English Country Dancing, etc

Dancing I obviously do with other people, walking, hiking and cycling I'll have company, everything else I do on my own :)

Anyhoo, I personally really enjoy being active and excercising.

Only time I will run is if my dog gets off leash:p

My exercise is changing litter, shopping,walking to and from car.  But really I do not exercise.  I walk dog around block but she has leg issue so it is limited.  Exercise is over rated...

I used to swim moderate speed for half an hour, several times a week.  Now I walk a mile to work and a mile back 4 to 5 days a week and when I'm there I'm on my feet and active all day up and down stairs and carrying stuff so I figure that should make up for the lack of formal exercise I do.

I walk a lot to and from classes, and I walk at a fast pace, but I'm super out of shape. That I'm still achy two days after a mile and a half jog is a great indicator! I really must get back into a routine! I used to work out regularly with a gym membership, but they reduced their hours before closing suddenly and without notice. I have access to a gym here where I live. I just hate working out alone.

I need to start exercising again, and seriously considering hiring a trainer with all my life savings. I hate working out, and I hate working out alone even more!

Have any female friends that want to walk?  Having a guy tag along adds safety!

I used to run/jog and do elliptical. Now,due to back trouble I've been doing the spin bike but not on a regular basis. When I do go, I do anywhere from 20 to 30 miles. I was doing more last year before the whole back trouble thing escalated.

I joined a local health club in January. I try to go six days a week. I either run on the treadmill, do the stairmaster or the elliptical for about 30 minutes, then attend the pilates or yoga class after that. That way I get in cardio with the added core strength training. I love to walk my dogs in the good weather too. My hubby and I usually will do this after dinner. I do enjoy a bike ride too in the summer months. I try to vary my workouts to keep me motivated!! :wavey:

No structure.  Yoga asana, walking, gardening.

I can't run any distance - I've never been able to even when I was a child.  I've been told I have 'cheap legs'

But I can do 24 surya namaskara (salute to the sun) with no problem.

For the most part, I do 3.25 miles on the elliptical every morning and then walk another 3.25 miles during my lunch at work. I keep trying to work in some weights and such, but keep falling by the wayside with them. I'll do OK for a week or so, then stop.

I can't run anymore; my knees are in too bad a shape for any kind of running. I can't even walk quickly without knee pain. I can do about a 15-minute mile....any faster than that and my knees will start to ache. (That's partly why I do like the elliptical as I can go much faster without a lot of leg pain.)

Unless I'm walking with Rick, I prefer to walk alone with my iPod for company. That way, I can go at my own speed and I don't have to talk to anybody. One of my co-workers likes to walk some days and he used to ask me if he could walk with me. I prefer being alone as that hour is the only hour that I have all day that's just for me. I'm not trying to be anti-social, but I like being alone.

But you'd meet people there.

Maybe. But it's a resident's gym and this is a small neighborhood, so it's not busy. When I've been in there, like at most other gyms, pretty much everyone has headphones in. But there's only ever been either one other person or no one else in there when I have gone in.

That sounds like a gym I'd really enjoy going to. >.>;

@laraLove

That's a shame. You have nobody at all you'd like to go with?
I'd go with you :-(

I usually walk by myself. My husband joins in when he is at home. :)
