Hello everyone,

About 3 weeks ago I came home with a 3-4 month old siamese/mancoon mix.  She is a bundle of joy and loves to be held and loved.  She however has a problem that is hard to deal with..  She has been having diarrhea almost non stop,  I have tried switching foods and everything.  At first I thought it was just stress and that she was now around 2 other cats and wasn't used to the food,  which is a natural blend with real chicken.  Also she "sharts" occasionally.  She is full of energy fits in great with my two other cats.  If you didn't look at the liter box she would seem fine.

Also she eats and drinks all the time.  I am assuming this is due to her using the litter box very often..like 3/4 times a day.

What should I do.  Thank you very much for your help.

Alex

You need to get her to a vet ASAP. With that small of a kitten,it can be anything and constant  diarrhea can be very dangerous and dehydrating.  The kitten could have parasites or a digestive infection, but you won't know until you take the kitten to the vet.  A small kitten can get very sick very fast if not treated with bad or fatal outcomes ....and right now we are just guessing what is going on.

Have your vet check for tritrichomonas foetus. If you live in the US you can also send a comprehensive stool culture to a lab called idexx. It is test 2627. Good luck!!

...with the cats...
i'd definitely have your little girl vet checked. @Therese is right that with a kitten that young becoming ill/having diarrhea "almost non stop" can cause her to "go downhill" extremely quickly.

you mention that you've tried switching foods. have you been switching dry cat foods? i ask because dry cat food should be slowly transitioned from one brand to another, otherwise kitty could have gas, diarrhea, or vomiting -- gastro upset. wet/canned cat foods are usually fine to switch from day to day, no transitioning necessary unless there's a medical reason (like IBD) to transition it.
