So we visited the vet today to have Zebu neutered (and also to get him chipped).

As it turns out, one of his testicles isn't descended, so we'll have to check up on that later. The vet said we should wait a few months for it might decend later on, but if it won't, Zebu will need surgery. He also said that this condition is relatively rare.

He also said that most probably he'll continue spraying till the other testicle gets removed :(

Should I be worried? Does anyone had/have a cat with this condiition?  Do you have any wisdom to share? :)

This is him still sleepy:

Hey there!

I'm currently in a vet assistant class and the lady who teaches the class actually help runs a spay/neuter wagon. We actually went over this topic recently.  From what she went over in class it sounds like it happens on occasion and it isn't a huge deal so I wouldn't be terribly concerned that one of them did not descend.  However, I do know that leaving that second one in there could cause variety of health problems, in particular testicular cancer, later in life.  What I'm curious about, however, is why they didn't just remove both testicles when they were neutering your cat.  I'm no expert, but it sounds like when this happens, they would just go in and remove both, even if one required a little bit more searching because it wasn't where it was supposed to be.  I don't understand why they would remove one and leave the second one in when they're just going to have to cut open your poor kitty a second time to take it out anyway!  Don't get me wrong, there may be a valid reason for this, I just find it kind of strange...

Hope your kitty feels better soon!

I totally agree with Skyefoxx, I had one of my males neutered 2 years ago when he was six months old. Same thing as you, only one testicle had descended. But my vet rang me as soon as he realised and said he was going to have to operate further to find the missing testicle and remove it.
It only cost me a little bit more for the extra time as he was already under anaesthetic.

It just seems strange that your vet didn't do this, as now your poor guy is going to have to go though surgery a second time when it all could have been done first time round. :dk:
