Hi, I have a cat that is around 8.5 months old. I got her when she was 7.5 months and has been in heat a couple of times, so I've not yet been able to get her sprayed due to the timing of it.

I am not sure I even want to get her sprayed, as she is a house cat, never comes into contact with any male cats, and she isn't particularly noisy when in heat. Infact, she is very affectionate at all times and even more affectionate when in heat.

Is there any problem with leaving things as they are in terms of her health?

Thanks,

The longer she remains intact the greater her chances for uterine infections, uterine cancer, breast cancer.

But here's another perspective.  Imagine you went into heat every 2 weeks and the result was an intense and overwhelming desire to have intercourse, and this happened to you bi-monthly for the rest of your life and you were never allowed to satisfy this desire......

You may enjoy her being more affectionate, but this behavior on her part is not for your benefit.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the health risks clearly dictate that I need to get her done. I wasn't sure of the health facts so thought I'd ask incase it wasn't necessary, but now I know.

I should add, as an aside, that I also suffer from this condition as you described! ;-)
