2 weeks ago a stray queen gave birth to 5 kittens on our lawn, my dad made a box with old clean clothes for beddings. She didn't seem to dislike the box on where we moved the kittens because on the first week she fed them every 2-3 hours. At 10 days though she fed them less like 4-5 hours intervals, and she began moving the kittens out of the box. We found them under the rain so we moved them in but now every night she moves them out and usually leaves 3 or 2 while she feeds the others. She doesn't like me though, she hisses at me at he sight of me attempting to hold her kittens. What do I do?

The usual is when you managed to get them in, to have them in, including mom...Not letting them mom out.  So this question is very unusual so to speak...

Also, she may come in heat now again.  If mated, she may have lesser interest for her already born kittens.

Make her room comfortable, so she doensnt feel stresser or threatended, have litter there etc....   It works suprprising well even with semiferales.

I hope you can still do so.

Good luck!

A while ago she moved three cats and fed them leaving the two in the box so after she left we took the kittens back in the box since it was cloudy and rain might come. Later, she took three cats again and moved them somewhere else.

At first I thought she was rejecting the two kittens but it seems she takes three different kittens every time.

So here are my thoughts:

1. She can't produce enough milk for 5 kittens and can only produce enough for 3.
2. She's just scattering her kittens?

What do you guys think?

The mom cat is feral but hangs out a lot on our lawn.

It seems she just doesn't like the box since she moved all the kittens out which means she doesn't reject the kittens.

It seems you will proceed with your plan B, ie helping her and her children while she and them is outside.

Its easier to socialize them kittens if they are inside, but this outside version is surely OK too, at least, for the mom.   :)

Good luck!
