I'm new and was so thrilled to find my people lol.

I've been dragging anything furry and in need of care home since, likely, a toddler. Something the people in my world just have to accept.

We moved to The Dominican Republic about five years ago; my house became a veritable rehabilitation center. Rehomed what we could, kept those we just couldn't part with (much to the dismay of the other expat residence in the gated community ... but, I mean who really enjoys a pack of barking beach dogs at 4am)

Hi there, and welcome! I bet you have some really interesting stories to tell. The picture of your two cats hugging is just too cute. Please tell me the secret. Mine would never do that

I am very sorry you lost your precious love. It sounds like you were really run through the mill with medical errors. I joined the cat site because my little guy is ailing and I did not know where to turn. It's literally the first time in my 50+ years that one of my cats has gotten sick. But the folks here have been very helpful already.

Your new kitty is a really striking color and pattern. I love his facial expression too. He looks like he has lots of purrsonality.

Oh, you're too sweet.

Thank you for the kind words about little Murray.

The picture of the new rescue, Rory, and his lover lol (Tink), is heartwarming for mom, too. Tinky was rescued three months before I brought home Murray; because my other cats were older he had no one to bond with and so the two rescue babies were glued at the hip. Tinky was in a deep depression with his passing; before I adopted Rory ... and, now, he has someone to hug again.

And, yes, the loss was tragic in so many ways because it just didn't have to happened that way, especially when you have owners willing to do anything or spend any amount to help their precious pet.

I'm so sorry to hear that your having health issues with one of your own. May I ask? Is it too sensitive? Is it something that can be remedied ... or is it something that will need regular treatment? I'm probably being too nosey but feel free to share.

The one cat I see is gorgeous!

Welcome to TCS.  I hope you enjoy it here and find sharing information and ideas useful.  The photos of cats you have posted are gorgeous, and Rory and Tink hugging is SO cute with them both looking up like that!  Rory is a spectacular colour and his markings are striking, especially on his legs.  I'd love to know how that coat of his feels!

I too and sorry to hear about Murray, how many cats do you have now, and do you have other animals as well?

I feel so honored to receive a message from the U.K.! I've only been once but I'll never forget it (home to some of the cutest moggies ever ... round faced and saucer eyed like your lovely British Shorthair).

Rory is a love, and thank you for the compliments on him. His fur is very plush, like shorn beaver (shudder, but it's the best description). I'm a lifelong cat person ... but this little guy is something quite different. I mean, it's wonderful, but a bit like caring for a unicorn lol.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm going to look at your page, now. The grey cat is stunning ... is he/she Russian Blue? Korat? Or just a beautiful DSH. I'm sure it'll be on your profile so I won't keep asking:)

BTW, where in the U.K. are you?

Have a lovely day!

Lots of UK members dotted around the site so I am sure you will receive many more UK messages over you time here.
I love how international this site is, it makes for really interesting information and discussion.  Your life sounds pretty exciting what with mving from Canada to Dominican Republic and then back again!  I'm very boring, lived in south London for a bit then moved to the north.

Yes, Mouse is Russian Blue but a little more outgoing and playful than the average I suspect.
I hope you make up cat pages for your guys, I love the cat pages, and lots of photogrpahs as well.  Your avatar photograph has me intregued.  It looks like a cat over a bath?

Hi, well that's great to hear. I seem to gravitate towards Brits lol. My best friend for years and her family are from Manchester, so I spent time there (and did the whirlwind tour:) also good friends from Scotland; a family from Bara ( who also lived in London for years) and over the years many of your wonderful colloquialisms have made their way into my daily chatter

Oh, I wouldn't say your life sounds boring! Especially when your home is such a lovely and historically awesome country.

I've lived all over the world, but as interesting as it's been, it has it's challenges. When we moved to the Caribbean I thought it would be a piece of cake (given my travel history) but it was actually the first time I experienced serious culture shock. We came home for a year, I found myself a proper tutor, learned to speak the language better, and dragged the cats back for another go 'round. Now, it's more my home than anywhere else; and the cats thrive there so they're really missing it. We may return if our house doesn't sell but things are a bit sus with crime on the rise etc.

Well, your Mouse is a beauty. He's so elegant and regal. I wasn't aware that they're a more docile breed, but this guy looks like he could be quite the athlete and (dare I say) mischievous

I'll definitely make a cat page if you think that's a good idea and certainly look forward to chatting whenever you're up for it!

Take care for now.

... oh and the cat avatar is a funny picture of a cat negotiating the fixtures over a full bath. The caption is 'nope, nope, nope, nope, nope' but it's not legible, so I'll probably change it:)

Rory and Tinky make me want to scoop them up in a group hug!

The cat in my avatar is my lil angel
Anushka. She's an old style Siberian  - just as healthy and hearty as can be. That girl is built like a linebacker and moves like a ballerina.    There's a funny story about how she came into my life, but I'd better save it for another time.

The cat who got sick is Karma. He's actually my husband's cat, but I don't love him any less. I wrote the whole saga on the health forum thread "I think my cat was misdiagnosed". Basically, he dropped a lot of weight all of a sudden and didn't even want to drink water. The vet kind of jumped to the conclusion that it was his thyroid. It turned out that he had a broken tooth. He's been on and off  thyroid med for the past year. When he is on it, he gets very listless and nauseous. When he's off it, he is still having a lot of pain in his mouth and can't chew, but at least he starts to come back to life again. He's only 5- a little young for a serious oral disease, but not if he inherited an autoimmune condition. He's going to a new doctor for radiographs this week. Hopefully, she will give him something for the pain, too. Wish us luck

I know, they're a scrumptious pair, believe me I'd get in between them in their bed if I could. But, we do have to hold oneself back lol.

Well, she is gorgeous. She does look strong and well muscled. Gorgeous coat and sheen.

Your husbands younger kitty - yes young for a serious illness - but when we lost our beloved Murray last year he was but a year and a half. Misdiagnoses. It happened all too often.

I probably don't need to ask if he's been tested for the usual, but has he had an FeLV test? I'd like to think it's simply matter of course these days but, again, it was only last year that we were shaking our heads because we just couldn't believe they'd missed it ... and suddenly, in crisis, full blown and nothing could be done. Anyway, I'm sure it's been thought of but after what we went through I just thought I ask.

Rory and Tink send a big hug your way and hope to hear from you soon!

no I was wrong, your lovely girl is the Siberian. I was confused for a moment. Still a gorgeous cat and that fur. Does your angel cuddle? Mine cuddle each other, but not so much their mom:( I get other rewards like kisses and morning shiatsu pressy paws on my back, though.

And, of course, wishing you all the luck in the world with your little guy. Please keep me posted on his status and I'm hoping that they can at least give him a little something for his discomfort.

*Rory mentioned to extend a hug from him and Tinky as well. I'm sure he could use one

Lovely to hear back.

hehe shiastsu pressy paws

Anushka (tabby Siberian) is a real cuddle bug. Most cats want to be held or petted for a time, then all of a sudden they're done with you. Not her. She's never done cuddling. Sometimes I think she doesn't knows she's a cat. She trills and chirps for me to pick her up, and won't take no for an answer. So, I just sling her over my shoulder and carry her around with me. And when you brush her she goes into this ecstatic state - it's really funny. I always wanted an affectionate cat. I never thought I'd see one quite like this, though. Now Karma (blue male) is like a whole different species. He's very intelligent and regal. He likes to be near you, and talk to you. He let's you know when he wants a massage (I live to serve!)  But cuddling- not so much. In ancient times cats were worshiped as gods. Karma hasn't forgotten...

That was very sweet for Rory to send me a hug, especially coming from such a handsome guy, MEOW!!!

I surely do need one.

Let me know if you make some cat pages so I can see, K? I genuinely appreciate all your kind words.

You guys are getting me all excited about visiting the cat pages again.
I LOVE the cat pages, seeing how different they all are and hearing all about the individual cats along with pictures and stuff.

And 'Shiatsu pressy paws', that is a fantastic name for my pawsage.
I may start to use this phrase if that's OK?
