Can you please tell us, IN DETAIL, how you have gone about the weaning process/what you have tried? I would feel better able to give you suggestions then.

Hi tulosai thanks for commenting back to my post I leave kitten meat down and softened biscuits down as I caught the 2 kittens eating mother cats food about 10 days ago and I put te food down in portions throughout the day in the room where there kept I've tried kitten food in pâté style ,in jelly ,in gravy ,whiskas biscuits softened and also kitten Iams biscuits softened I've even tried making a paste of the kitten meat and milk mixed together in a syringe but she just spits it out :( I presume mother cat is drying up as she's spitting and hissing and hitting them with her paws and is reluctant to be near them but there is always food down for the kittens to feed and drink when ever they feel like the kitten will eat but will only eat what ever my lg drops on the floor I even caught it tryin to eat fresh chicken off my lgs Sunday dinner yesterday I'm at my tether with it and feel I'm doing something wrong I want what's best for this little lady xx

To begin with, forget solids. Serve kitten milk replacer in a shallow (it is very important that it be shallow) bowl. First dip your fingertip (or the syringe or bottle the kitten is used to nursing from) into the liquid, let the kitten lick it, then guide him by moving your finger down into the bowl. Do not push his nose into the bowl though- just guide him very gently with your finger. This may take several tries. As he is getting used to this, always offer the bowl first, THEN the bottle.

Only once he becomes accustomed to lapping liquids on his own should you move to solid food.

At that time, mix dry or canned kitten food with kitten milk replacer until it is the consistency of oatmeal or a bit thinner.  This means if you are using dry food, the ratio of milk to dry food should be QUITE high initially.  As the kitten gets accustomed to eating, gradually decrease the amount of milk replacer you add, while slowly increasing the amount of kitten food.

It sound to me like you were too optimistic about their ability to just automatically catch on (partly because 2 of them did).  If you start over pretty much and go slow, first introducing him to lapping KMR and then to real food, it should go smoothly.

Let me know if you have any questions.
