I'm posting before I go to bed tonight because I know so many of you are up and into your day before me.

I guess its typical at my age to have lots of friends and former classmates on facebook talking about how much their kids love the movie Frozen.  It was ALL over my facebook wall for days the week it came out!  I bought a copy figuring my kids would just loooove it too.  Not really.
It is cute; but DD saw it 3 times before she decided she likes it.  (She hasn't asked me to put it on again like other movies.)  The first time was in the theater with my mother and she was scared of it!  I've watched it twice at home and she came in to watch too.   I may like it more than her!

What was your favorite movie as a kid?

My favorite movies were Peter Pan and Beauty and the Beast.  I still have the VHS copies of them!  It wasn't till I was a teen that I saw The Aristocats.  I always liked the Disney version of Robin Hood too.  The one where the characters are all animals.  And the version of The Sword In the Stone.  Those are both on Netflix so I've been able to see them recently!  We also watched Mulan.  I enjoyed that more than DD too.

There weren't the kid's movies around when I was young, or if there were, I didn't see them.

The only one I remember was Fantasia, and I was about 12 when it came out.

I had an older friend who used to take me to the movies... Elvis when I was really young (big yawn!)  The Graduate when I was 11 (I was totally shocked at the bare breast scene, but saved my allowance for the sound track) .  Then 2001 A Space Odyessy which blew my little mind when I was 12.

Mine was Dumbo.

Still to this day the scene where Dumbo's mother is rocking him through the jail bars evokes the intense feeling l had as a small child seeing it for the first time. This movie may very well have set my love for animals and disgust at the humans who mistreat them.

We didn't have much in the way of kids' movies when I was small, or at least I don't remember any. I do remember going to the movies to see Frankenstein and Dracula....do they count? Remember the old Saturday matinees? That's when I saw a lot of horror flicks. I never went to any night movies until I started dating dear Richard.

The Fox And The Hound, Bambi, and The Jungle Book (Disney movies).  I couldn't name just one.

I still cry at that scene.

I, too, didn't see many 'kids' movies when I was young. Mostly horror flicks and westerns. I do remember Bambi and Dumbo, they both made me determined to be an advocate for animals, I was a BIG animal lover even back then. I remember crying at the injustices in both of those movies. My favorite TV shows were Flipper, My Friend Flicka, and Animal Kingdom.

The Land Before Time and The Last Unicorn.

Watched them soooo many times as a wee one! then later childhood The Prince of Egypt came into the mix.

I also adored documentaries about history, astronomy, horses and dinosaurs. My parents and I had copied/taped so many of them (Favourites include National Geographic and Eyewitness, amongst others) I would rewatch every one constantly. If not getting them from TV, would rent videos from the library. Goodness, I loved the library as a kid
both for the books and the documentary videos.

Not sure if they count, but they were a huge part of my "movie" viewership. I was more interested in that stuff than the other usual kids movies. And I could never handle animal movies, and still can't, they would always make me cry, and I don't like crying to movies. And then there were other movies that I just found strange or had really disturbed me, like The Dark Crystal, Watership Down or the pink elephant scene from Dumbo. I still can't think of the first two without feeling really sick to my stomach.

Did watch a lot of Sci-fi and Action movies with my parents, though don't have a particular favourite - just sentimental memories.

Me too.  And I won't watch any of those because of it!  I have a feeling DD will react just as strongly.  The only movie I watch to cry is Beaches!

I am the same way!  I don't watch movies to be sad or scared.

I used to watch some old western's with my Grandma.  And older movies like the Wizard of Oz or musicals.  Things that weren't made for kids; but were kid friendly.  I guess they just didn't fall into my "favorite" category.  White Christmas is one I started watching as a kid; and it's still my most favorite movie of all time.  I also love The Music Man and a few other musicals.

Don't remember going when I was a kid. If there were any kids movies, my dad didn't have money for that. When we finally got TV, we were amazed and we did watch that.

It's not exactly a kids' movie, but I loved "Born Free" when I was a kid. We mainly watched movies about animals, like "Old Yeller", "The Incredible Journey", "Flipper", "Flicka", etc..
