My poor baby Socks got bit by a stray while playing outside and got infected. I couldn't find him for a few days before it was too late and the infection had turned to gangrene. He needed an amputation up to his shoulder blade. I promised him I would do all it took to save him. He is fine and well but I really need any kind of donations to help with his surgery. If anyone can help donate or to share this link and Socks' story it would be greatly appreciated, by me and my Socks!! :) Thank you!!

To all members, a reminder that it is YOUR responsibility to check out these solicitors to the best of your ability. Ask for references, phone numbers, call around the area and find out if this is a legitimate cause or a scam. Thecatsite.com does not stand behind any solicitation of funds for any reason that appear in the forums unless explicitly authorized. Be very careful before you send any money: no matter how effective the plea is, check it out first before opening your wallet. For more information, see Pleas for Money.

I know GoFundMe is one of the known online funding groups, but in my small personal rescue (not the big group I foster for) I have always just given people the name and address of my vet, the cat's name and my name obviously, and I've never made it public but people in my Facebook cat groups have offered to help, like this one, and I feel it makes it easier for them to just send it to the vet hospital.  They can also call the vet hospital to check on the status of the cat or the account.  I'm still paying on Grey Boy's bill from last year, but I did have some help with it. My vets are very understanding, because I do rescue, so I always owe them money and I always pay them money every month but the bill is rarely down to $0 -- it's almost like asking for trouble if it is!
