Annoying Commercials

You know, a LOT of them are annoying, but none would be so bad if they wouldn't show them 20 times a day! It's that 'over and over' that gets to me, ALL of them I hate when I see them that many times a day. I wonder if they know I don't like any of their products when they are so ANNOYING!

I think it comes down to the old adage: There's No Such Thing as Bad Publicity

Eventhough we hate these commercials to the core of our very being, we still know what they are selling. We are almost programmed with it from seeing it so many times.

Maybe, that's their goal?

Yes, we still know what the commercials are selling. But for some of them? There's is no way I will ever buy what they're selling, simply because I am sick and tired of seeing their commercials. There's a local car dealership that used to advertise twice during one set of commercials during our local news. "Best Prices! GUARANTEED!" We would see those same commercials 4 times, sometimes more, always in groups of two, during the 30 minutes of news! I got so tired of seeing those commercials that I knew it would snow around the equator before I ever bought a vehicle from there. And when it came time to look for another car....when we bought our Tucson, I refused to even check them out. Just on principle. No way was I going there. And I meant it. The only thing those car ads did was GUARANTEE that I would never buy a car from them.....they were that annoying.

Right now, Ford has a commercial where this couple switched from (a Honda, I think) to the Ford Escape. And every time the woman says, "Awesome!" and giggles, I just want to smack her silly. The newest Ford commercial talks about a Ford that disappeared off the lot. And "Handwriting analysis shows a buyer....." You know what? I'll never buy a Ford. I loathe Ford commercials with a passion. Yep, I know them. And I'll never buy one.

And I think it was Nissan that had Michael Bolton, of all people, wearing some kind of a silly wig and singing some stupid song around Christmas. That was disgusting. I really hate car commercials.

And what Di and Bob said ... I have to think part of the problem is with the networks and the number of times they run a commercial. Sometimes they might be filling in time WITH a commercial and not take into account or care, that the same commercial has already played a number of times in an hour? But companies are definitely not doing themselves any favors in allowing their product commercials to play so often, that's for sure.

One commercial that really annoys me is the Sweeper commercials. It shows the dirt under the sweeper after cleaning and it makes me sick to watch. The one that really annoys me is the two old people, Morty and wife. I click to another channel immediately.

Actually I dislike all commercials, unfortunately they are a waste of time and our eyes.

The best thing to do if you truly hate them, is to DVR all your shows and then fast forward through them.

Unfortunately, I have Comcast cable and they charge extra for DVR. They even have commercials during most of their on demand content now. You can't even fast forward anymore during on demand shows as they lock it during commercials- basically trying to force you to watch them. It used to be commercial free.

We have a DVR too and any of the shows at night we want to watch we definitely tape them. It's amazing when you are fast forwarding through those commercials how many there are! I would almost bet an hour show has over 20 minutes of commercials.

I agree with this. All of the drug ones are irritating. They try to get folks to take the drugs, then they start talking real fast. If you listen carefully, that is the part where part of the side effects, are strokes, heart attacks, blood clots, etc. Honestly the things they cause can be worse that what "ails" you. :nod:

I'm in Marketing Communications, so I'm always analyzing print ads and TV commercials, although I generally don't watch a lot of TV.

I hate the WeBuyAnyCar commercials...now they are annoying. On rare occasion, I'll actually commend a company for having a unique, attention-grabbing, though-provoking commerical. Of course, I can't think of any of those right now...only the ones I hate! LOL.

Weird, because I LIKE those commercials with Flo and I don't have insurance with Progressive. I also like the Gecko commercials but not all of them and also some of the other GEICO ads, but again: not all of them.

I do resent all the ones aimed at men and their particular "problems", but nobody cares about those same "problems" in women. I at least have never seen a commercial regarding women's hormones.

The Skittles candy commercials are disgusting--the guy on the treadmill sweating out candy or the kid with them in his teeth and then other people eat the candy! Gross.

These are local Nashville commercials so you all will not have seen them before. However, you must take part in the ridiculousness of this ad campaign. They play these constantly on Nashville TV, and thanks to Comcast they play constantly on national channels as well.

It is really enough to make you want to do bodily harm to someone. Especially after they play them several times a day. The irony is, they could then call this Ambulance Chaser and get a settlement. This is just a sampling as well. This company has a multi-million dollar ad campaign devoted to this garbage. If you search Bart Durham on YouTube you'll see literally dozens of these commercials.

Just thought of another commercial I hate. The Kardashian girls and Zoom Tan ---- you look 10 lbs. thinner with a tan!! Give me a Break. Just can't stand those Kardashians in general.

The Belvita commercial where the chick sings an annoying song...soooo tired of that commercial that I actually refuse to try these crackers based on principle.
