Has anyone ever heard of complications from neutering an older male cat? Because boy, am I dealing with that right now and I can find absolutely no information on it. Regular vet did the surgery.
What kind of complications? Did your Vet leave any emergency phone numbers, just in case? If this is a medical emergency, then you need to get him to an emergency Vet. If it's behavioral, then it will probably take a few weeks to pass, as his hormones don't just leave his body immediately.
My one female did. She became lethargic, stopped eating. We took her back in. They gave her sub q fluids and she then was fine. The vet didn't charge for the visit. If your boy is having problems please get him seen. They can't go without fluids or food.
Hi Sorry to not be more specific. I really need to talk to the vet more, because I'm not sure myself. I think what happened is one of the cords (the one that supplies blood) that they tie off slipped off the instrument and snapped back into the cats body. Then there was a lot of bleeding. By evening his red count was so low that she wanted him to spend the night at the emergency vet. He did and is doing better now. I'm more asking because I couldn't have been less worried about the surgery and wondered if anyone else had this happen.
