I wish that last sentence of the article, was reprinted at the beginning .This is all over the news in England. I wasn't even aware that cats could get TB

I have never heard of it here in canada, either. It is interesting how the media can create fear by bringing up a news report, but never really investigating it fully,(canada t.v. news...just repeats a story found on the internet) so you only hear bits of a story, and some follow-up, comes weeks later.
I too hope people don't get stupid about this. This is the first I heard about it so it isn't being reported in the U.S. The article did say that this strain is mainly in livestock and rare in cats. It also said that the real problem is human T.B. and that this form of T.B. is rare in humans. Of course when people are scared of something reason goes out the window and they will start wanting to kill strays and ferals. Hopefully people remain reasonable rather than letting fear take over.
Not just strays and ferals, but cats period. The NCLEX, the board exam for nursing, is notoriously against cats.

That was absolutely hilarious!! What a clever journo.A rather tongue-in-cheek commentary in The Guardian: So cats are giving us TB? It must be time to fight back
