Name two songs that make you happy and say why.

(post as often as you want, the longer the list the better for me.)

I'll start:

Adele- Lovesong (Cure Cover)-    I think this is the perfect lovesong of all time..and the guitars move me.

Fleetwood Mac- Hold Onto Me- great keyboard, guitar, drums, bass and I love the lyrics.

Definitely not the new "Happy" song. :nono:

B-52's Love Shack. My best friend and I call it our song. :lol3: That's the one that we would always have to get up and dance to.

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - the Impression that I Get. I just remember having a good time when this song was playing.

Those are pretty interesting choices.  @AbbysMom.  I do know the Love Shack one, but had to look up the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.  So I spent 30 minutes or more on youtube, and I like the horn section, and the lyrics.  Their cover of "Detroit Rock City", is also a great. as well as "Someday I Suppose"  ..lol

I did not know the new Pharrell Williams' song was called "Happy"...lol...  "clap along if you feel like a Room without a Roof?"...
..as long as it does not rain, that's okay..  I guess..
...(I know it means the sky's the limit)

Come on AbbysMom,  you know it makes you want to dance.
 lol.....thanks for those.

This one is enough silly that it always makes me happy:
W - AaIiNa

I'm not sure if japanese name is even near what translation of it is, but I really like this one too, I was amazed about words as they described me quite perfectly and I really like from all the frequencies, it is like sweet/sour sauce mix. Singing is computer generated which is quite impressive, imo. Far better singing than I can do...
Megurine Luka - Caged Baby Dragon ( 【巡音ルカ】オリジナル曲「籠の中の雛龍」 )

One might find both from yt, spotify or some other place, I doubt that there are many here that have heard those.

Perhaps not the most traditional choices from western point of view and I'm not too sure if even in Japan majority would made such choices, maybe teens might and it's so long that I was a teen that I don't even remember that, but somehow those tickle my ear in a proper way, there is enough chaos but yet everything is perfectly in right position (timing, pitch).

Because of my neural differences I don't experience music quite same way as most, for me music creates images, sometimes complete worlds and events, kind of short movies, usually words are something I don't even recognize as I hear every sound as how they are timed and what is their pitch. Common music is not then working for me very well as it has strong bases on words and music is supporting the delivery of the words.

That is perhaps why music I find making me happy is from language I have only some very limited knowledge of .

thanks @Jtbo... I have not heard of them before, so will look them up later, since I have to go off to "Spring Cleaning" thread....and then to the actual work of cleaning..
..which I don't like but must do....lol.

Sometimes, I hear a song on the radio, and it is also from another country, and language I don't know, but like you said, it has beautiful music....so I just listen to it.

It sounds like you would enjoy more classical, and instrumental then.  I do like spanish guitar music, but I don't remember any titles from a cd I have.

Also when you have time, look up Diablo Swing Orchestra, especially faster ones are quite nice (as always, faster works better from me), can't remember now exact titles, but it is different music again, mix of big band and sort of heavy metal but still not very heavy, but more of happy stuff. Swedish band, not sure if many has heard from that either.

Another 2nd would be Kalafina - Red Moon, again from Japan, song from great composer Yuki Kajiura which other works are also worth checking out.

Generally slow music is something that does not work for me and here majority seem to like slow music called iskelmä, which is not at all same as British hit music which it is often translated to, it is slow music where singer sounds like has lost everything and people slowly pretend to be dancing while being very drunk, usually Saturday evenings.

But I can listen most other music, from stone-age to modern age, music around the world and from all cultures, native music is often very interesting for example, isn't it bit silly how music from my own cultural background is one does not work at all for me? :D

@peaches08...I actually really like the video for the song, but they were "overplaying" it on the radio, in the car, so I just had to turn it.  That always happens, then in a few months I can listen to it again.  But it does make me want to dance, not good when driving.  lol.

At first I thought abbysmom, was talking about Bobby Mcferrin's song: "don't worry....be Happy", because I did not notice she said "new"....lol.

No, I don't think its silly, since musical tastes are so personal, and everyone has different tastes.  You just have an ear for different music versus popular or familiar.

I am the opposite, to me many different places seem to have similar dance beats, or drums, or guitars, but what I really like is "words" and the lyrics of how the singer sings the song.

thanks for the extra info you sent....you have given me more research, but since I am slow, it may take me till weekend to hear it.

Check out Springsteen's  Waitin' On A Sunny Day.  I think his best live performance of this is at his Hyde Park  (London) concert from 2 or 3 years ago. You can find it on Youtube.  I promise you guys that you can't help but smile when watching it.

Also, y'all might think this a strange choice, but I get happy at Fleetwood Mac's  Tusk,    performed in The Dance concert when the whole USC marching band rushes in and joins them in mid-song. Man, that's mood changin' stuff !

One of more familiar for most might be No Doubt - Just a girl, preferably one of live versions, if that does not motivate one for workout I don't know what does, there is so much energy that one will get energized by such great performance :)

I'm not sure if many have heard, but also bit more common type of music that makes me happy is The smoking time jazz club, singer has so wonderful voice:

I guess one might spot them at New Orleans?

Percolating Blues is also one of their songs, not sure if I can add another video, but I try and see what happens:

There is no way one would not get happy from such performance, just look expressions those people are having, how everyone is enjoying from great time together :)

I have no idea what they are singing about, never have listened words, but can't be too terrible, I guess, also I don't know why it is Blues, isn't Blues supposed to be sad music? :D

Ah, that was so funny, but disturbing at the same time, so I don't think we can post it on a "cat-family-friendly site"...LOL..

LOL(watch it on youtube.)

I cannot stop laughing.  But now I am a little scared of my vacuum cleaner, too,
and I really need to use it today.
.LOL.

thanks @AyeshaJae.   lol.

From @Merlin2000  , (Sir Duke)  Tribute to Duke Ellington and all the music greats.  Love it,  "you can feel it all over.".....lol..

And @CatDavidLouis,  Springsteen, I had never heard  (Waitin' on a Sunny Day)..  Why don't they play that on the radio??  love it.

I have to make a list of all those other songs, so that I can keep them organized, for easy listening on those lazy sunday afternoons. (or any day really)

thanks to all.

@JTbo     No Doubt-Just a Girl......very rocking fast song.  Definitely gets you moving and dancing.  Your're right, you just get "energized" just by watching it.

The other video looks to be possibly in New Orleans, in the french quarter.  I have never been, it seems too much fun down there, but....maybe one day...lol

The "charleston dance" we had to learn in school for physical education classes, but no way could I ever even get up and dance like that.  Those two are professional dancers, for sure, to entertain the tourists.

That lady's voice is indeed, very strong.

Now you must send something from your country, even if you do not like it....lol.....I only know,  Aha, Roxette, and Abba, Alsou, and Scorpions from Europe.  There has to be someone from finland.

Apocalyptica, Nightwish (only older stuff with original vocalist), Lordi, sure there are some quite good ones here too, but I don't know if those are bit more heavy metal than most like to listen?

From UK Dragonforce is one of very nice ones, but again older stuff as their new vocalist just has not so great voice, imo.

This is from Nightwish, official video, original version of song titled Nemo, but I guess that at least in US "I wish I had an angel" might be better known, band was formed at 1996 and is currently 3rd most selling band in here, despite being music genre that is perhaps not the most common or at least was not the most common at 1997 where I have known and listened it:

Try Apocalyptica - Harmageddon for example, no vocals 4 cellos, but music is very original.

Danny - Kesäkatu is something I'm not liking much, but Yölintu or Katri Helena - miljoona ruusua are something almost unbearable for me, but those kind of music have been very popular here :D

Oh yes, best selling artist is Eppu Normaali and 2nd best selling is Matti ja Teppo, I don't rank them very high myself though, but maybe someone finds them interesting, there might be some songs of them in YT.

There are really a lot of artists here, however metal bands seem to be only ones I seem to really like for whatever reason that is.

Here you can spot more oddly written names with funny letters :D

There are lots of songs to pick from but I'll just pick two.

Run with us - Theme song from The Raccoons. The beat is just catchy and I guess the boy in me remembers watching it.

Scum of the earth - Rob Zombie Ok yes odd choice but once it's got a good beat and it can put me in good mood.

Loads and loads but the first one that always comes to mind is REM:  Me In Honey.  Not their typical misery stuff at all and always makes me smile.   Then another really up beat track I've loved since I first heard it (can't remember where, I probably bought it because I like the album cover or something then fell in love with the music) is Sipho Mabuse: Jive Soweto.

Both have my toes tapping as soon as they start and nothing stops till the music does, and I want to play them over and over again.

thanks @Jtbo....I cannot stop listening to "Nightwish", right now, especially good when doing house cleaning, and want to stay  awake.....very loud....lol.   Here, in canada, I have never heard of them, or the other singers/songs.....so now its a bonus.....so thanks.

Also, want to find out why the singer left the band?  She was very good.

@kordron.....your two happy songs were so different, that one made me laugh....the theme song from the Raccoons.....and the other one was so scary.....with freddie krueger fighting jason.

The songs okay, but the video....is   ah....a little too much.

  lol

But since the girl does get them in the end and freddie does wink....I guess its okay....lol.  It makes you happy, so its all good.
Nightmare on Elm Street was the best horror movie, back in high school, but none of us could sleep after.

LOL....The Jive Soweto, song, made me think of the summer and street carnivals,  and street dancing.  It was very lively.

REM song is very moving. It seems like a simple song but it is not.  The music and beat is fast.  And I never knew that band was american, always thought British.

thanks all.

I guess reason why singer was kicked out (she did not left by her own wish) was because internal conflicts, that band has gone trough another singer since then and also quite many of members have changed in quite short time. Also they have had quite bit of style changes too, I'm not all too sure that band founder is very at management side of things, but then again how many musicians are?

There is something about member changes and also discography so one can find out which songs there has been and by which members:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nightwish

For staying awake and doing cleaning one might try this one, Dragonforce - Heroes of our time, it is official video from their channel featuring their old singer, which was kicked out because of being too unreliable (drunk) during tours, but he had very well working voice and new one that replaced him has too soft voice, imo:

They have quite good drummer too and even drums are kind of melodic in a way, not just replacement for metronome which drums often seem to be especially in our 'iskelmä' music :D

I think that Dragonforce's songs have been in Guitar Hero game too, certainly could be a challenging as they have told themselves that no one can't pluck that fast, it is bit of trickery with modern tech, but nevertheless they create sounds that will make you happy if you just like from the genre.

Horrorstuff is something I stay well clear of, with my vivid imagination there would be no way I would leave from safety of blanket and bed if I would of watch any kind of horror thing.

For example Disney's Black Cauldron is certainly too much for me and I have stayed clear of it :D
