Hi! I'm new and my baby Tanner is about a year and a half old. He's very energetic and loves to eat and get into everything. I call him mischief a lot :). I noticed this morning he had vomited next to my chair. He doesn't vomit a lot, but has vomited a couple of times so I figured this was just one of those times and cleaned it up and went to work. I came home at lunch, like I do every day, and he didn't paw my shoes like usual. So I walked passed him to get his food. Every day at lunch time I feed him a half of a can of wet food. He watches me go into the kitchen, jumps up on the table and stares and meows until he gets his food. Today he went into the kitchen with me, pawed my shoe a little, and walked with me to the table. He eats on the table so that's where I put his food. I had to tap on the table to get him to go to his food. This was not like him at all. Usually as soon as I put the dish down he attacks it. Today he sniffed it, took a little bite, and walked away. I had also found more vomit in my hallway by this time. I leave a dish of dry food out for him as well, and it had the same amount of food in it as it did the night before. This is so not normal for him. Before I left to go back to work, he vomited again. I heard him from the other room heaving so I went to check on him. As I left he just sat down on the floor and stayed there. I work in the same building I live in so as soon as I got into the office I was already feeling very anxious for him so I called the vet. They wanted me to bring him in so when I got back home, he was still sitting in the same spot. When he hears me come to the door, he always runs to the door, not today. I got him to the vet and he had slight fever and the vet said he could tell there was some stomach discomfort. He said it was too soon to diagnose anything specific but he did want to give him fluids and antibiotics. So we did. He has been sleeping most of the afternoon and night. The vet also said to take away his food for 24 hours while his stomach calmed down. I hate this!!! He's not done anything to act like he's hungry and he's sleeping so much. He vomited again tonight. This is not my baby! The only thing I can think of that I've seen him in is he may have licked my soap in my bathtub last night. He loves to get in my tub after I shower and lick the water off the curtain. I remember him in there last night and completely forgot the bar of soap had fallen into the tub. But that wouldn't cause a fever, right? I just wish there was something I could do for him. He's like my child and he's been very healthy since I got him. I feel so helpless.

Poor baby! He might have a stomach virus. Keep an eye on him- make sure he drinks, we don't want him to get dehydrated. I agree on not to feed him dry food, but wet food should be ok, cats do need to eat and should be wet for hydration.

Let us know how he feels!

Aww poor baby! My boy had a similar episode where he was throwing up and having diarrhea for about a week. I gave him probiotics, and it seemed to have help end a bit, but I took him to the vet anyway. Vet said he most likely had an upset stomach and gave him a pepcid shot. He told me to hold off food as well, so I skipped one meal. The combination seemed to have helped. I guess cats have occasional upset stomach like humans do. I hope your kitty feels better soon! Hopefully it's just a little tummy ache.

Thank you!!! He seems to be doing better already this morning. He woke me up wrestling with his stuffed monkey in bed and knocked my water glass over :D. This is my baby. Lol. I guess I was freaking out because this is the first time he's been sick and he has become such a major part of my life. I never knew I could love a pet so much!

I know what you mean. I don't know what I'd do if anything were to happen to my babies!

Glad your sweet boy is doing better.  We all feel like that here when something is wrong with our kitties, "they're our babies!"  No need to apologize here.
