I've been around cats for years and I never noticed until yesterday that there is some webbing between their toes it's only slightly noticeable on Tallulah but on Tippi it's very clear , she's got quite a lot of webbing on her front and back paws.

Yesterday she was cleaning herself in front of the fire and I could  clearly see a pink membrane between her toes like little ducks flippers .

Do all cats have webbing ? and what's it for ?

Hi  @Merlin2000,

I only came across this thread, today, but I think your question of cat's feet having webbing is a good one.

My cat is an ordinary domestic shorthair (DSH)  tuxedo cat, and he does have webbing between his toes.  It seems more pronounced in the back ones, and I had only noticed it when he was grooming himself, too.  He had spread his back toes wide.

Not sure if this helps, but found an old article from 2012 describing this.(It seems to be that all cats are good swimmers....mine don't like water....so would never try this theory out..)

This is off topic, but because of your drawing of "Merlin" in the "Draw me a Picture" contest....I had then noticed the "ear hairs" coming out of my cat Spotty's ears, too.

I have always been around cats, too, so this should have been obvious (even more so than the web feet which are not visible until stretched).

So there you go, we learn something new everyday.....lol.
