:yeah: That article highlights a significant one, namely the risk that the brand you've chosen isn't balanced, but there are others, including possible recalls, shortages, changes in recipes, and the need to feed a restricted ingredient or prescription diet at some point due to allergies or illness. The less fixated your cat is on one brand, the easier it is to make diet adjustments.

Thanks so much for sharing. I'm lucky that Oreo isn't a picky eater. I'll rotate a couple different high quality brands and also alternate the type of protein source (poultry vs fish or a mix). On occasion, he gets to sample my roast chicken too :)

My cats are picky about the good food--the ones I want them to eat.  They're happy to stick with Friskies and Fancy Feast.  I'm not, so we're in constant negotiation mode.  They prefer chicken and cannot tolerate red meat.

I tried Merrick's recently and they seemed very happy with it--so that's a win.   A pity Merrick doesn't sell the large cans.  My preference is Wellness and Evo since they are available in 13oz cans.  They are okay with Wellness but have gone on Evo strike.

Merrick changed  their canned formula's about a year ago, now none of mine will touch it.  Just another reason to have several brands in rotation, so when a formula changes you have something to fall back on.  I'm still ticked off at Merrick

The only non-grain food that my FeLV+ would eat was the Merrick Cowboy Cookout - I wondered why he didn't want it anymore - guess I know now. :)  He's been eating Weruva - mostly the Love Me Tender flavor, but is tiring of it so I tried to go back to Merrick - didn't work.  Fortunately, a few of the other cats like it, so the case won't go to waste.

When the feral-born (outside cats) won't eat food, you know it's gotta be the uninviting smell or something. :)

I do have two cats that are on RC Urinary SO, for  6 and 4 years now, and they seem to be doing really good even though I really don't like the ingredients - no crystal blockage since I began feeding the canned food - with the dry being given for a "treat".

I heard that they changed their recipe to less favorable ingredients.

I'd love them all to be on raw or almost raw food but I just can't swing it, so, meanwhile ...

Oh, Evo - didn't the original owners get into their Senior years and decide to sell the company about 2 or three years ago?

It seems like a lot of the companies are changing ingredients, and it's hard to be able to count on any one brand, for sure.
