Hello everyone,

I joined this afternoon after making the very difficult decision to put Leo, our 16 and a half year-old cat down today due to cancer.  It's been a very sad day...but I had been reading through some of the blogs in the last few days while we waited for biopsy results to come back and so many of them gave me a sense of peace during very difficult days.  So today I joined officially as a member.

Hello everyone,

Hi @aimsfaust  ,  I am so sorry that you had to put your cat Leo down.  Cancer is a very cruel and tough disease, and he would have been in alot of pain, so now, you have to know that he's in a better place.

I'm glad you decided to join TCS.  I also joined  this past january, after putting my cat, Sparky to sleep.  He was a young cat at only 2yr3mts, but had complications from being felv+ and fiv+.

I think losing a cat is never easy, no matter what the age.

Anyway, just know that you can find a lot of support here, from a lot of people, and I will be saying a prayer for both you, your family,  and Leo, because I know how hard going through the loss of your cat can be.

take care

thanks, after 2 months it gets easier, because a kind advisor on TCS also told me to use the energy to heal, instead of just regret things I may have done differently.

for me, it is a little easier too, because I have another 14 yr old cat named Spotty, and a 1.5 yr old black labrador named floppy..  These other animals keep the grief lower, because they are still around.

I'm so sorry that you had to make such a hard decision.

I lost one of mine (my favorite but don't tell the others) to Feline leukemia a year ago. I sure wish I had found this site then.

It's been a tough year and, sure, time heals but sometimes you have to give yourself a break and allow for a profound loss to be what it is. It's nothing that anyone else can tell you to get past or move on from ... because we never really get over the loves of our lives. And, animal lovers (although cat specific here), pets fall into that very important place in our lives.

He was a gorgeous cat, and well loved ... you can see it in his sleeping smile.

Words can seem empty at a time like this but, if you need any support, don't hesitate.
