I picked up my 2nd ragdoll on Friday night. Monday morning my first ragdoll seemed ill, I took him to the vet...anyway, I ended up calling the breeder just to give her a heads up thinking it might have originated there. She didn't blast me, but I ended up feeling pretty bad. She also apparently thinks my vet is full of poop. Simon was given an antibiotic(clindamycin hydrochloride) and she didn't agree with that. She also said that low fevers are worse than high fevers, she just pretty much totally disagreed with my vet and suggested I take him to her vet.

I'm just interested in hearing another breeder opinion about this. I realize now that Simon getting sick is purely coincidental, I'm just confused a little by her attitude about my vet(she didn't know of him when I mentioned his name.)

As a former breeder, I would have appreciated the heads up, just in case it DID come from me. As far as her attitude towards your vet, I could see it if she knew him, and knew some things about him that were bad, but since you said she hadn't heard of him before you told her, sounds like she's just being overly defensive and hateful. Of course you never know whats going through her mind either...Hope your kitty gets better!

I hate to say it, but most of the time breeders know better than vets. Many times I have had to tell my vet what I wanted to be done, not what he thinks should be done. After many years of breeding you learn from your mistakes, and know what to do in that same situation to prevent losing a kitty.

She may have had a cat on that antiobiotic and had bad results. I personally wouldnt use it either. Dont see the reason too.

I would take her suggestion into consideration and take your kitty to her vet. Being a breeder she knows a good vet when she finds one.

Good luck with your kitty!!!!!!!
