I took in another pregnant girly about 2 weeks ago. I knew it wasnt going to be long till the babies were here but I didnt think it would be this soon. I have just come home to these ...

I think there are more still. I missed the first 2 but saw the third. She took a while to eat the umbilical cord and placenta, she did do it in the end BUT the cord is soooo long and wrapped all round him, what can I do?

Hi and welcome

I am confused about your question.  is one of the babies or mom currently in distress? You seem to have said that she did end up eating the umbilical cord and placenta.  Are all babies okay? Is the umbilical cord still wrapped around one of them? If so is he or she breathing? Or are you just asking what to do during the rest of the birth?

If you can clarify we will be able to  help more

Everyone is fine, sorry I should have said she ate all of the placenta and some of the umbilical cord but not all of it. This baby has its umbilical cord wrapped all round him, its so long. The others just have an inch or so left. Does this make sense now? :/ Thanks for replying :)

Do you have forceps and scissors? Ideally you will use forceps to clamp and then use the scissors to cut the cord. You will want to make a jagged cut rather than a straight one, since a straight incision causes more blood outpour, thus leaving more room for complication. Leave about 1 inch attached to the kitten. If possible,  wash the end of the cut cord in antiseptic solution to prevent infection. After you have cut the cord, if it continues to bleed, you can tie it up with unwaxed dental floss.

or, you can essentially cut off with your nails, not to near the kittens body.

the rest will dry off and fell off itself with time.

This is the quick version, the more elaborate you got from Tulosai.

Do it as clean as you can, but moms teeths arent totally bacteriefree, so you dont need overdo by being hospital sterile.

Good luck!

It will be fine I probably made it sound scarier than it is. You do have to cut it, though... far more serious problems can result if you don't cut it.

You can do it

The only other option is to take the kitten to the vet I am afraid.
