~~We have a 21 year old female cat. Lately she has been having episodes where she is stumbling, as if she has lost some use of her front right leg and paw. When this happens it's quite scary to watch and last night we feared the worst. However, less than an hour later she is acting normal, walking with no problems, eating, using the litter box and jumping back up on the bed to cuddle as she enjoys doing. I know that she is getting quite old and my concern in that taking her to the vet will not only be costly, but more important, a lot of stress on her that I am certain she does not need. Any suggestions or comments would be very much appreciated.

I'm sure it would be normal for a 21 year old cat to stumble once in a while, a 100 year old person would! She could be experiencing some loss of muscle mass or even some small strokes, which both could be 'normal' at her age. As long as she is eating and seems to enjoy life, I wouldn't worry about it until it becomes obvious she is having pain or a big increase in symptoms. I don't think a vet can help much and it would cause her undue stress to bring her in, you might call him though and ask his advise. I salute you for giving her 21 years of love, it shows you were good cat parents! God bless, I'll keep her in my prayers.
