I was doing a little research for Dexter, my 10 month old kitten who is a very picky eater and thought I would share what I found.

I've been feeding Dexter Canidae because I was able to find it on Amazon.com very reasonably priced for the ingredients that it has. Unfortunately, Dexter isn't crazy about it and there are a lot of days where he will refuse to eat it unless I make it more enticing with some kind of topper or mix in. So I went looking online for comparably priced foods I could try.

Fancy Feast ~18 cents per oz.
Canidae grain free ~16 cents per oz.
Soulistic ~19 cents per oz.*
Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lover's Soul  ~17 cents per oz.**
Dave's Chicken ~17 cents per oz.
Dave's Cat's Meow ~14 cents per oz.

*Petco repeat delivery price. Non-repeat price is considerably higher.

**Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul was ever so slightly cheaper. See here, hairball, light

Numbers are approximated because I can't promise I always used correct rounding rules and such. And that is just what I found it for today... it may not be the same another day.

Obviously, I'm not saying any of these are the greatest food choices ever or anything. They are just what I've found with ingredients better than some of the others like Friskies and still reasonably priced for budgets similar to my own.

I'm also open to any suggestions anyone may have about what I could try with Dexter! I got him a couple of cans of Tiki Cat once when he had a kitten cold and I couldn't get him to eat anything else. He has never been so excited about eating anything in his life but I can't afford Tiki Cat on a regular basis: it was a special treat while he wasn't feeling well. If anyone knows anything that may be somewhat similar in texture/taste and still affordable I would be very appreciative of the information!

I have been trying so many foods lately. With my cats they do not like the food that look and taste like people food.

There are also foods that you would think they would all be similar, one brand of turkey is different then the other.

My cats like Merricks Cowboy Cookout,  Weruva cats in the kitchen funk in the trunk,  and Wellness core turkey and duck.
