Hi I'm a 32 ur old trucker ex security not a wuss or spiritual in any way my gf a nurse and we both are normal, just want get that out there before u hear my story lol here goes few years ago now I used be a security gaurd on a building site, the site was a massive site being demolished to build houses on there, on the site was a working mens club the landlord also had his notice and left shortly after, but he left his cat behind, I wasn't a animal person but wasn't cruel I did some digging and managed get this guys number, so I called him up explained he's left his cat behind etc, he said the cat was happy there, and she was ill and got early signs kidney failure, and also said she's a hunter and she's happy there, so I left it at that and started feeding her, I wasn't close at all just left her some food in a bowl.

Not long after she started waiting for me to come to work, I'd pull up do change over with other gaurd, as soon as other gaurd left I'd go out side she be there sitting on bonnet of car waiting patiently, our bond started there I was on this site 8 month or more she just got closer and closer and the joy se expressed and warm welcomes was overwhelming she would enter my office let me close doors behind us I'd make a brew she would jump up rub along kettle rub nose on my cup sit on my knee every time I sat down we got closer an closer she used to follow me around a massive site on patrols she was lovely she once was following me and a dog tryed attack her I picked her up and got attacked my self in the leg lol the next day she got me a pigeon dunno how she moved it at all the way to office door she was smaller than most cats she seemed so proud of her self.

Anyway the site was changing she wasn't happy buildings no longer there just a open space to the point when I got in car to leave she tried get into my car etc I try drive off I'd get a long meeeoooow I was concerned because my contract on site was coming to the end what she going do next day I called rspca a lady came and see my I explained she has kidney failure and I been giving her all right foods for her condition she explained if she took her in she would be put down due to illness but said with right treatment she could live for several years happily so I decided to take her on took her to vets said it's very early stages she's all well but will need fluids regular all sorted she had regular visits to vets she settled in well with my dog she was special I could go on foreva cut a very long special time short we was very happy she had 24 hour love and always someone home my gf works 8 til 4 I worked from midnight till 10 am and my son who now is 14 left for school at 8 am she only spent from 8 am till 10 am alone she was very much loved and was very happy and special for 6 years untill the last 3 month she was showing us all signs that she was dieing regular visits to vets have fluids she perk up for 2 days and fall Ill again this went on for 3 weeks in this time she was telling us she was in pain and it's time.

We booked appointment to vets she confirmed it's time my gf came home told me news after I just got out of bed from night shift and said we got one hour b4 she has to go back to be put down I was heart broken I hugged her she licked me she never normally does and same with my kid she let him hug her that never happens and lastly my gf who she was very close too then walked upto carry basket and jumped in and wouldn't turn around I wanted one more hug wouldn't move she knew so I took her vets he got into the vets room she shaved her arm she jumped on me after for last hug while she did injection she moved paw to my neck then like a electic shock then passed away since life has been hard.

I still feel her presents in bed and when making a brew and keep having the same crazy dream she been saying showing I've got to find a pregnant kitty stroke her nose and when she has her litter and they are ready she will show me who she is she tells me she ain't ready to leave us it hurts her to see us upset and not able to comfort us this been happening over lady 2 weeks clear as they come I don't know what to think part of me feels like I'm mad or stupid for not trying or it's cus I'm upset anyone want pm me or comment below about your views am I being stupid or has anyone had a similar situation thanks for reading

My condolences. It sounds like she was a very special cat, and the two of you had a very strong bond. You definitely made all the difference in the world to her, and the love you shared will always be a part of you.

Many members have reported being visited by their cats who've passed, so that doesn't seem strange at all. She's letting you know in your dreams that she's watching over you and wants you to share the love of cats you learned from her with another needy cat. That cat won't replace her, but you'll love it for its own sake, and its presence will certainly help to ease the pain of your loss.

I'm not a religious or spiritual person but from loosing my previous two cats I sure believe in them having a presence after they have left us in body.  In a much stronger way than I ever have from loosing very close human famiily for what ever reason.  I would see and sense my 'girls' around me, and see them in shadows or from the corner of my eye quite regularly after each of them passed.  I still sense them now even though several years have gone by; not often but an occasional feeling that I can't explain and which will come out of the blue, like they are still looking out for me.  I do have another cat and got him as soon as I could after the second of my girls left me, but the previous cats' presence doesn't seem to bother him.

I always felt my previous cats would understand having a cat around was important to me and I would have another cat once they were no longer there, but didn't feel they gave me messages about it.  Maybe because I didn't feel any reserve about what I was doing, talked to my old girl about it before I finally had to take her to the vet, and immediately looked to find a new cat to share my home with once I didn't have her to hold or feed or care for any more.

So many members here have experiences like this I don't think there is anything unusual about it.  If you are having this dream about finding another cat then listen to it, take your time to think it through and what having another cat in your home would mean - this cat had a very close bond with you and changed your life in some way so it is natural that you continue to feel a connection which helps guide you in what to do next. I am sure you and your GF will make a decision based on how having and then loosing this lovely little creature in your home has affected all of your lives.

Cats definitely work their way in to our hearts, and they stay there for ever.

You are a very special man. The way you took over feeding and caring for this kitty - you haven't told us the name - shows you are a very caring person. Then bringing her home and giving her vs wonderful and loving home also shows what good people you your gf and son are.
It's terrible losing our kitties. I had to put my old man down in May and in July and August I got two new cats.
You obviously are meant to be a cat person because of your dreams. It wouldn't surprise me if you did hear about s pregnant cat and get one of her kittens. Actually I'd take two. But that's me. I'd have more if I could.
I'm sorry for your loss but just remember how much your kitty loved you. She'll want you to be happy again. She's now happy and pain free playing with other kitties on rainbow bridge. Do you know the story of the bridge? It's very comforting.
:-)

Thanks for all your kind replys it means a lot, she sure did have a good life, my gf was talking over weekend about having another kitty I can't imagine it, I feel kind of guilty like I'm replacing her she was very territorial ,but she did learn me a lot, there is a lot more to a cat than I Eva imagined, she's was one in a billion, I've not cried since I was a kid , I've sure made up for it this past couple week lol

My girl was name indie I used her original name what her original owner gave her , my dreams more like visions, I see indie sitting there watching a mother with her kittens, and one kitty with exact markings as indie comes up to me then I wake up with loads fluff attracted to stubble on face lol crazy stuff I keep feeling tingly strange feeling in tips of fingers she loved a nose rub I'm sure I will be sane again one day lol thanks again guys u have made me look and think about things differently , I've not read the story about the rainbow bridge I will look it up thanks here is my fav pic of her when she's having a boxing match with me lol thanks again

What a beautiful baby! I'm so very sorry for your loss, she sounds like a perfect companion that chose you to be her soulmate, and wouldn't take no for an answer! Bless you for taking her in, I can't imagine what would have happened to her if she hadn't wormed her way into your heart. I truly believe they visit you in your dreams, especially since you are taking her crossing over so hard and she meant so much to you. Our babies would never want us to be so sad, they would want us to remember the love they shared with us and not to dwell on the passing. My husband is a builder and a 'manly' man. he cried like a baby when our Chrissy died. Maybe Chrissy and Indie are playing right now, safe and warm at the Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts just feel the pain, they don't know the difference between cat and human. Mourn her as you should, but take comfort in that she is trying to tell you to honor the love you two shared by sharing your heart with another tiny soul when you are ready. I believe she will indeed tell you 'who' to choose, follow your heart! RIP beautiful Indie!

What a beauty.

There are so many cats in need of homes out there I don't think your Indie would mind one bit sharing your love for another cat. So many are abandoned and abused if you can find it in your heart to open your home to one or two more you should do it.

I have a family of cat, mom, dad, brother and 2 sisters and it amazing to watch their family unit. Maybe you could get two siblings so they can keep each other company when you aren't at home.

Whatever you decide you are an amazing person taking care of a special needs kitty as they can be so much work but they love very deeply.

HUGS

I'd go for which ever little cat/s manage to win our heart - you will feel it when they do!   Whether it is one or two.  If two little cats seem closely bonded I don't think it matters whether they are male or female / brother and sister as long as both are neuter.  If you and your gf are out often at the same time then 2 kitties that get on well can be kinder for the cats - someone to play wth and snuggle with when no humans are around but double trouble when you are.  (Double food, litter and vet bills too though)

My indie cost me a fortune in vets fees , but she was worth every penny, if money could fix her it would of been done ages ago, the love I had in return was priceless I just wish we had longer

I agree if you get two cats you can tell if they are bonded. Mine are but they fight all in good fun it sounds serious sometimes but it really isn't. If you see two that you like and they seem to hang together go for it.

You'll know when you see them.

I don't think so, my cats pick up on my moods but sleep most of the day. I make sure I give them equal attention and sometime one of them will come to me if they want more. The brother of my two girls get jealous if one is sitting on my or my husbands lap and tries to push her off, we just laugh and snuggle him right in with her- it is awesome to have a lap full of cats!

I agree with @Alisa Brown, it should not an issue, esp as there's 2 of you AND you're in loads!  One will always tend to be more dominant but that can swap round over time.  If you create losts of height space and hiding space so they can be alone or in company when ever they want 2 is a great thing, and with 2 humans there is always lap space for all.

I hope when you get the the shelter you meet your new heart stealer/s there, I am sure you will know what to do when you both meet the right cat/s.  Your home sounds like a wonderful place for cats to find a home.  If you have any sad feeling just remember any new cat you welcome in your home will all be Indie's doing because it was she who won you over.

I lost my 20 year old lotto last May. It was a terrible time in my life as I'm sure you can understand. I was quite ill after and ended up in hospital.
About a month after I came home and was ready for another kitty my vet phoned and asked if I wanted a siamese. She had an 8 month old abandoned male. I took him of course. A month later my daughter phoned and asked if I wanted a 2 month old black and white street cat.
They are like brothers. So much love. So you can never know. I was a bit worried. Blighty was so small but is enormous now. Much bigger than whisky but he knows his place lol. Whisky is alpha male. They've both been neutered of course.
