My kids and I are going to the movies today to see Divergent. It's based on a children's book in the dystopian genre. I thought the book was great (plot-wise, at least), so I'm really looking forward to the film.

What movie are you looking forward to seeing?

Whether it be new or old, in the theater or otherwise.

The last movie we saw was last week when we watched Gravity here at home. We ordered it from cable.

I'm not really looking forward to any movies. We don't watch much in the way of movies anymore.

We also rented from On Demand,  Gravity, I did not care for it at all.  I was very disappointed.

I'm not a big movie person.  I did finally see Frozen this weekend.  It's been all my friend with kids have been talking about; how much their kids love it.  It is cute.  My 4 year old isn't obsessed with it like most kids it seems.  Kinda nice for me I guess. ;)

DH and I have been watching more documentary style things on Netflix.  One was called Into the Pride and one is about homesteaders in Alaska.  I can't think of the name of that one at the moment.

I usually don't watch anything until it's out on DVD, and can't say I'm really looking forward to anything at the moment. There are several films on my Amazon Prime Instant Video watchlist that I'll watch when I get around to it.

Haven't gone to a movie in years. There's just nothing that we especially want to see. occasionally rent a movie On Demand, but many of those have been disappointing. They just don't make good moveis anymore.

We usually don't go. When we watch one on TV, he says, "Pick one you want to see the first 15 minutes of". I fall asleep.:lol3:

My 12-year old DD went to see it today with her friends and they loved it - gets a bit violent/loud at times, but that's what the book is about. And the cast was amazing. I'm sure you and your kids will like it.

Most of the movies we watch now as a family are ones that the kids want to watch (Disney mostly). The last one DH and I saw together was Gravity, and IMO the plot wasn't very appealing. But the graphics were impressive.

I was very disappointed in Gravity. It wasn't all that great, although it was a stretch for Sandra Bullock. But just not that impressive. The special effects were good, but that's all I will say for it.

We watched Nebraska last night. Or, I should say, Rick watched it. I was sound asleep in about 5 minutes.
Couldn't even begin to tell you what it was about.

I want to see the Lego movie. It looks cute.

I don't watch a lot of movies, and almost never in a theater---theaters are noisy, sticky, they don't have captions. . .I always watch TV with the captions on because I have a hard time understanding the dialogue for some reason. I got Star Trek Into Darkness from the Redbox machine a couple weeks ago, I think that was the last movie I saw. I liked it.

We enjoyed Divergent well enough, but they left a lot of really key information out of the movie and made some changes that, while they often made sense, really degraded the connection forged between characters in the book. So, basically, it's a good movie but completely void of the strong emotional connections found in the book. So that was really disappointing.

We're going to see the Lego movie in a couple of months. The next movie I'm really excited to see is The Giver. It comes out in August.

Eee, The Giver, as a book, kinda freaks me out. Not sure I can handle the movie :/. I wonder how closely they'll stick to the book.

Oh, the whole dystopian thing. Killing babies and old people, "Sameness" and all that. Especially as seen through an innocent child's eyes. Disturbing. But not as disturbing as The Hunger Games, I guess ;).

Also, at the end I have no idea what's happening. Is he leaving the part of the planet that subscribes to Sameness? Entering a different dimension? Traveling in time or memory? I AM SO CONFUSED. :lol3:
(ETA: OK, I looked that up and I guess some thing are explained in the sequels which I haven't read yet :/. I'd better get reading!)

That's why I wonder how closely they'll stick to the book. I guess they're making Jonas and the other kids be 16 instead of 12 so already that changes things significantly.
