So, two of my babies are FeLV+ and I'm looking for some supplements to help keep them healthy for as long as possible. Having never given supplements before, I'm a little unsure about where to start. I've done some internet searching and gathered some ideas, and I am hoping that someone can help me figure it out. I was thinking about an antioxidant, lysine, and probiotics.

1. Antioxidants

Ark Naturals Feline Granular

Any thoughts about this product? I don't know what most of the ingredients do, but I see taurine and vitamin c. I remember reading something once about using a diet high in vitamin c for felv+ kitties. I'm going to look into that a little more. The reviews on Amazon and Ark Natural's website are good. It doesn't seem like it could hurt to try it.

Pet Wellbeing Life Gold

I don't know about this one. I have no idea what the medicinal properties of the herbs are, and it's a bit pricey.

2. Lysine

I have always heard of lysine being used to support the immune system, but searching this site it seems that it is mostly used for kitties with the herpes virus. Would it be useful in my situation? Can anyone reccomend a good brand?

3. Probiotics

These seem like a good idea in any situation, and I'll probably even start the felv- kitties on them as well. Also looking for recommendations on a good brand for these.

Sorry about how long this post is. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Outnumbered and welcome to the forum !

The very best answers to those questions are sure to be given by the members of the specialized online groups for FeLV cats. The groups have been running for many years, and have an enormous collective information base that far outstrips that of any individual Veterinarian. They are also on the leading edge of the latest treatments and are knowledgeable of current drug trials and the like. They have been more than a 'godsend' in helping people manage the health of their cats.

There are two groups. They use email as their operating platform. I would suggest using a new separate email addy for each - that will help you manage the info best.
Ten years ago, I lost a FeLV kitty.....at the time, I had no idea that there were groups like these. I'm convinced now, after what I've learned about them, that I would not have lost him before his time...if only I would have known.

I'm sure they'll have the answers !
